Secret Service moved out of Trump Tower to trailer 'in lease dispute with president's

Re: Secret Service moved out of Trump Tower to trailer 'in lease dispute with preside

Okay, fair enough.

No, I don't. While the article gives the impression that the Secret Service is being treated unfairly, I can appreciate you calling me out for making a rash judgment call.

Look at us, having a reasonable conversation!

if i were president (and i wouldn't take that ****ing job even if you thrust it upon me,) i would be pretty damned grateful to the Secret Service, and definitely wouldn't try to fatten my pockets off of the rent. of course, part of it could be that he doesn't want them there listening to whatever potentially corrupt things his kids are up to. that's probably part of the reason that he's pricing them out of the building and onto the streets. he is most likely paranoid as hell about leaks by now.

Re: Secret Service moved out of Trump Tower to trailer 'in lease dispute with preside

It appears, to me at least, that some people don't read all of my posts. For example my post #59 which notes that the DOD is paying more than twice the going rate for an apartment in Trump Tower. With its past record of unwarranted expenses, I suppose it is not unusual for DOD to pay twice as much as the market value for any item.
“The military’s lease in Trump Tower puts the space far above market rate for similarly sized apartments in the luxury high rise market and makes it one of the most expensive residential rentals in Manhattan,” according to the WSJ. “The most expensive Trump Tower listing recently was a 3,725 sq. ft., three-bedroom apartment on the 62nd floor. It was listed in the spring of 2016 for $50,000 a month unfurnished and $60,000 a month furnished, according to Streeteasy.com.”

Maybe the Secret Service has better 'bean-counters' than DOD

Some people may look for the ease-dropping angle here, but if Melania and Brandon are still living there (especially if they're still living there), then it makes perfect sense that the Secret Service would try to get as close to the President's private residence as possible to provide maximum security effort to the First Family. Even if they moved out of "that dump of a White House" ( ), I'd still think some form of personal security would be provide there to keep vandals at bay. Maybe it's a private security firm, maybe its the Secret Service or maybe it's a combination of both. I don't know. But to suggest that the Secret Service shouldn't be leasing space there demonstrates a lack of understand of security logistics on your part. We're not talking about a single-family home you can observe from a distance from all four corners. We're talking about an apartment suite that encumbers an entire floor in a high rise commercial building. The security logistics are a bit of a nightmare just thinking about doing it from the ground level let alone from the street!

Sorry. Don't agree. They had no business in that building. Do they protect the president??

he CIA is an independent agency that collects, analyzes, and disseminates foreign intelligence information to top U.S. government officials. The CIA does not make policy decisions or recommendations. Instead, its role is to report intelligence information that is objective and free from political bias. The President and other agencies (such as the State Department and Department of Defense) assess this information to make policy decisions on national security issues

He doesn't trust his own intelligence people. It's very likely he doesn't trust the SS either.

How is this any different from the Clintons renting a house to the Secret Service on their Chappaqua property for an amount which just happened to cover their mortgage payments?
Debunked years ago

It is a standard arrangement that the Secret Service provide payment to homeowners for space used by the agency in such situations. The Clintons did not take it upon themselves to “charge the Secret Service rent.”

The amount provided is based on a government formula, not set by the homeowner, and in the Clintons’ case this amount was $1,100. (Note that this figure was not chosen by the Clintons, and it was well short of their monthly mortgage payment.)

Most important, although regulations call for the payment of this amount, the Clintons did not in fact accept any money from the Secret Service.

The Clintons Charged Rent to the Secret Service?

Secret Service Payments: It claims that "[t]he Clintons charge the Federal government $10,000 monthly rent" for the quarters used by the Secret Service at the couple’s residence in Chappaqua, N.Y. This is false. The Clintons legally would have been entitled to receive $1,100 per month (not $10,000) but refused the money.

But we're not talking about the CIA, MaggieD. We're talking about the Secret Service. Two completely different government agencies with two completely different mandates under the law. One provides covert protection and surveillance abroad, the other protects and serves at the pleasure of the one who occupies the Oval Office and his immediate family.

Two completely different purposes.

Try to stay focused, girlfriend.
