Trump thinks the 'White House is a real dump,' report says

Yeah, 'cause the White House wasn't his house, remember?

I remember all the jokes about BBQs on the White House front lawn and spinners on the Presidential limo, but the White House wasn't his house. Yet, if he had been reported to have said anything quite as derogatory about the White House as Pres. Trump reportedly has said, these same people who are defending Trump would have lost their freakin' minds!

I completely forgot about this. Brb, gonna go look for these threads.

This was sent from Putin's computer using Donald's credentials.

Alright, so the place is old, in need of some repair (which was taking place even during Obama's tenure) and has reportedly had a few problems in the past with insects and rodents (and possibly even presently). Do you publicly criticize it or do you appropriate funds to fix it as your predecessors have done and call in the Orkin man for pest control even if it means doing so in the midnight hours to catch that New York Pizza Rat or Chicago Super Rat?

My point is there are ways to deal with the structural and/or pest control problems concerning the nation's #1 landmark than ridicule it to your wealthy golfing buddies. Have some respect for the prestige that embodies the White House, Mr. President, a place your constituency pays for. If you don't like conditions, either bitch to Congress to pony-up the money for renovations as your predecessors did OR come out of those rich pockets or yours and pay for repairs yourself OR simply L-E-A-V-E!

It's just that simple, folks.

Sidenote: Those of you making excuses for Pres. Trump (assuming he did make such a comment) or pointing out the flaws at the White House with such ease defending him should be ashamed of yourselves. Where's your pride and patriotism for your nation's "house"? If another nation's leader had called the White House a dump, would you be posted past comments about from former Presidents or First Ladies to prove their point or would you be pissed about someone else talking about your nation's house? Have some pride, damn you! :x

I love this--you're beside yourself after saying "assuming that he did make such a comment."

I haven't made any excuses for President Trump, BTW. I don't even know for sure that he said what is claimed. (I'm betting he did.) I'm just not willing to get worked up about this.

Perhaps, but it was a dump when Truman moved in. How else can you explain the leg of a piano falling through the ceiling from the second floor to the first? Who really knows. Far as I can find out, the last major renovation was done during Truman and Jackie Kennedy spruced up the White House a bit. That's a long time between repairs.

Now should Trump have called the White House a dump, no he shouldn't. But he could have been speaking the truth.

The way I see it is if you put trash anywhere, it becomes a dump.

Pride and patriotism? Some show that through rhetoric and symbols, others through their own actions without have to spout off or show symbolism.

Certainly not as extensive as during the Truman years, but interesting nonetheless!

I always hated that striped wallpaper in the Oval Office. I hope it goes.

Time for a freshening up. Glad the a/c system's being upgraded.
