Far from it. There will be no collapse of Obamacare, but there are some problems.
1) First of all, some insurance companies are pulling out because Trump has threatened them with taking away their subsidies. That is also known as sabotaging the system in order to attempt to get it to collapse. However, the areas affected will be mainly rural areas that voted for Trump. This is going to hurt Trump a lot more than it's going to hurt the market. But we all know that Trump is famous for shooting himself in the foot, which is why he has been polled as the worst president in at least 70 years, and perhaps the worst ever.
2) Other problems stem from some governors refusing Medicaid expansion in their states. A notable exception is Kentucky, where the state government gave McConnell the middle finger and opted into Medicaid expansion. And, the healthcare system in Kentucky is not only doing well, but has become a model for other states that want to give Medicaid expansion a shot.
3) As for premiums skyrocketing, you can place that squarely on Republican sabotage of the system in an attempt to get it to fail. For instance Blue Cross/Blue Shield is requesting a 23 percent rate hike next year, but will only request an 8 percent increase if Republicans promise not to sabotage the system.
There are some other problems as well, but 90 percent of America is now insured, due to Obamacare, and it won't be going down the drain any time soon. But that still leaves 10 percent of the nation uninsured, which amounts to about 30 million people. Of that number many are not eligible, due to being in the country illegally. That still leaves a few million uninsured. This is something that Democrats and Republicans need to put their heads together and fix. The "My way or the highway" Republican approach isn't going to work, as was demonstrated in spades this week.
