The Senate is careening toward a final decision on whether it can repeal, replace or revise Obamacare, with no certain outcome and Republican leaders desperate to get rid of their political headache after several failed votes earlier this week.

The Senate will begin a series of votes on Thursday afternoon designed to test what senators will support for an Obamacare replacement bill, dubbed a “vote-a-rama." This will help determine if Senate Republicans can reach any consensus among themselves. The session could last until Friday morning, depending on GOP and Democratic maneuvers.

Of major importance is the development of the "skinny" repeal

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) is expected at some point to unveil the GOP’s highly anticipated “skinny repeal” bill — the narrowest effort to dismantle Obamacare that can win at least 50 votes. Many Republicans believe this proposal may be their only hope for reaching an agreement inside the GOP conference and forcing House-Senate talks to hash out a final Obamacare repeal package.

This republican sabotage bill needs to go down in flames

It will end when Trump is no longer President and Republicans no longer have a majority in both houses.

Keystone Cops.

Is this the best they can do or is it Impeachment Prep.....you be the judge.

God, seven years they've been planning for this day!

How can they be so ****ed up?

Meh.

You're getting too carried away with this impeachment conspiracy stuff.

You're saying the GOP are bombing health-care, as a ruse to allow them to impeach?

Political desperation.

Alexander was the big surprise. Not so much with the 3 GOP senate women. Fischer is putting her seat on the line in Nebraska now. McCain kept his word and Portman is showing he cares about his state, not McConnell or trump .

He's just trying to play the preemptive impeachment strike card. It's past time for that lame, stale maneuver .

If McCain cared about the "regular order" of the senate, he would have voted for the healthcare bill being sent back to committee

Yeah, some politics.

Throwing 20-30M off their health insurance.

And then attempt to claim some form of Pyhrric victory?

They want to be able to claim that they "kept their promise"

I expect Mitch McConnell to nuke the senate and go against the rulings of the senate parliamentarian.

I'm glad it's out in the open for debate and the amendment process with professionals testifying. This is another backfire for the GOP. McCain torched his party and is now one of several GOP adults breaking away from McConnell .

That won't help. McConnell can't get 50 votes on any new bill. What goes around comes around Mitch .

If his words have any weight, he should vote againist the skinny repeal bill.

Now that, would really be a mess!

And it would give Trump more impetus to believe he can act even more lawlessly, without Congressional consequence.

This could be really bad stuff.

The real key is the GOP governors like Sandoval, Ducey, Kasich, even Haslam weighing in against skinny. Watch out for Sandoval and Baker in 2020, since trump is already toast .

McConnell still needs 50 votes with nuking the senate, which he doesn't have. He also remembers what happened to the DEMs in the 2014 elections after Obama and Reid did their nuke on lower-level appointments forced by McConnell's all-out obstruction .

I am not making a determination of the cause, I am asking a question.

I am sorry but John McCain needs to back up his words. He should have been the third no vote, but he voted yes.

If McCain wants to be remembered for his reputation as a maverick, he should be the third no vote on this trainwreck healthcare bill.

I support the motion to debate this monstrous wealthcare so we'll agree to disagree. Look at how many GOP senators have gone no since the motion to debate. They're listening to their constituents and governors since the debate is now open .

Well asking if this was impeachment prep, would seem to me you think it's a possibility.

The ultimate test is the vote on the skinny repeal amendment, something that even senate republicans don't know the details of.
