Feinstein: Mueller says Senate Judiciary can interview Trump Jr., Manafort | TheHill

Special counsel Robert Mueller has given the Senate Judiciary Committee the green light to publicly interview Donald Trump Jr. and former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, the panel’s top Democrat, Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s (Calif.), said Tuesday.

It is unclear whether either potential witness will accept an invitation, though both have said they are willing to cooperate with investigators looking into Russian meddling in the presidential election and possible ties between the Trump campaign and Moscow.
If they refuse, subpoena them. And make it public. Needless to say their lawyers should be there.
The American people need to see them up close and answering questions under oath.
Thoughts are?

After watching Coats, Sessions and Rogers, the lesson I take away is that if you don't want to answer questions, you don't have to answer questions. And that goes beyond the usual "I can't recall" and "I plead the fifth." As far as I can tell, outright lying doesn't seem to be a super big deal either.

Another thought: if Kushner did indeed leak the emails to the NY Times as a strategy for taking the spotlight off of himself, it seems to have worked stunningly well.

And another thought: Jr. is stupid. He won't be able to skillfully filibuster Democrats' time slots or successfully give non-answer-answers. If he does talk, he will most likely hurt himself.

Taking the 5th, well that is their right.
Any answers to questions would be under oath, consider Mueller investigations, we do not know who he or Comey had interviewed and IMHO the Senators are smelling blood.
My opinion- It came from the WH or Russia. Just another step in destabilizing the US Govt
But this should be public.

Cool. Do it.

Though, I've got to ask: Did the Senate wait for Mueller's permission before they interviewed other people? If not, why not? Also, why would a Senate investigation "get in the way" of anything Mueller does?

Oh well, if Feinstein and her Democrat buddies insist on getting Mueller's permission, I guess him giving it is a good thing.

If Mueller is allowing them to testify before Congress, then he's already interviewed them and there's nothing there.

If there was something there, testifying before Congress could prejudice the case. The last you want is to give the perception of a kangaroo court.

And if they have different answers to questions already posed then they are in trouble.
Nothing like lying to the FBI, that is a Felony.

Like I said, go that route if you want it to look like a kangaroo court. I don't think you want that, but then again I think none of you care how rediculous you look, at this point.

There is no kangaroo court.

There are questions under oath.

Let's see how they do.

*ridiculous*

No the difference is Comey is running for POTUS, Mueller isn't. So he isn't going to disclose any information until he has to. Comey made the largest political move of the 21st century when he stabbed Hillary's campaign in the back. He did the same to Trump as POTUS. Mueller will probably have a different style, but not by much, since Comey learned from Mueller. Thinking that silence means nothing is there or that silence means people agree with you is the largest mistake Trump's team is making. Just because the man-child can't keep his cool, doesn't mean others can't.

Wait, what?

Wait, what?

He's currently writing a book, since getting sacked by Trump. To me the only way him butting into both campaigns last year makes any sense is if it was political. I don't see Mueller doing what Comey did.

Hm, maybe, but it doesn't feel right to me.

Funny, I have the opposite reaction to Comey. I think he's completely oblivious to politics. His investigation of Hillary was simply dogged and single minded. As it should have been. Same thing with Trump.

No, Comey is not running for POTUS.

That is the ultimate conspiracy thought for the day.

Not sure what you are referring to?

Lois Lerner stated under oath that nothing illegal occured, then took the 5th on damn near every question.

Is that a sign of guilt or their right to invoke the 5th?
