Re: Minneapolis woman shot and killed by police after calling 911 to report assault,

An unarmed woman who had called 911 was talking to a cop through the driver's side window when the cop's partner pulled a weapon and shot past his fellow officer to kill the woman he was talking to.

There just has to be more to the story than that, otherwise it makes no sense at all.

At the same time, we have to consider that it may have been unintentional stupidity. It may have been an accidental discharge. The OP makes it sound as if he drew, aimed and fired. He may, as a precaution, had his gun drawn and pointed in her direction.

I won't criticize the cop for having his gun out of the holster. He doesn't know this woman, nor her intentions. But, damn, at least have enough care and familiarity with the gun to keep from accidentally discharging it.

If it was an accidental discharge, the cop in the driver's seat should be mad as ****, since it could have just as easily been him. I know I would be.
I don't actually disagree with this. I just wish the same scrutinization of the police was there when it's *not* a nice white lady. It's hard to read this thread after reading all the threads where BLM complaints are summarily dismissed. Doesn't it seem a bit problematic to you that suddenly, with a white woman involved, we are suddenly willing to allow for the possibility that a cop actually f-ed up?

There does, but who knows if we'll ever get it. The police tend to do their best to cover for their fellow officers.

Minneapolis woman shot and killed by police after calling 911 to report assault, family says – Twin Cities

A woman was shot to death late Saturday by police responding to a 911 call in south Minneapolis.

Two Minneapolis police officers responded about 11:30 p.m. to a report of a possible assault in the 5100 block of Washburn Avenue South, according to the state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, which is investigating the incident. One of the officers shot and killed the woman.

No further details were released Sunday by the BCA.

Investigators are seeking video of the incident. The officers’ body cameras were not turned on during the shooting, and the squad-car camera did not capture it, according to the BCA.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For the past year the Twin Cities has been a hot bed of anti police sentiment because of the Philando Castile murder.
Now we have this police involved killing in which the police body cams were OFF and there is NO police dash cam video.
Police are not stating if the woman that was killed had a weapon so, the prevailing opinion is she most likely was not armed.

Here we go again Twin Cities ............
White chick? Don't expect to see any more about this after today.

I would say the exact same thing if she had been black.

At the same time, we don't know she was "a nice white lady", either.

There is at least one witness - the officer between the shooter and the victim. I can see absolutely no reason that the other officer in the car (not involved in the shooting) did not issue a public statement. Either that officer decided (on the spot?) that the shooting was accidental or justified or they should have made an arrest.
I'm sure it WAS reported immediately to the superiors. An investigation will go into the shooting and the details will come out in trial if needed.

This is why I believe that sovereign immunity needs to be abolished for all government employees. Cops and DAs have way too much power.

That would create a scenario where no one wants to be a cop; no one we want to be a cop, anyway.
