Re: Minneapolis woman shot and killed by police after calling 911 to report assault,
Because the mayor said we have a few facts? Strangely enough, it's a situation which is entirely the fault of the cops who shot the woman who reported a potential crime. They turned off their body cams AND the cruiser cam.
It may seem bizarre for them to shoot her, but you know what would be even more bizarre? The idea that she would do anything to make the cops afraid for their lives.
No, I really don't think we have to sit here with lips zipped tightly shut. The only new facts are going to be things like ballistics and blood spatter, but since they didn't turn on any cams when they responded to the report of a potential assault, nothing is going to tell us more about what happened. We apparently have the word of three people who were watching. We only await the inevitable explanation from the cop who shot her that actually, she decided to reach for their guns or something.
I'd be more willing to give them the benefit of the doubt if this **** didn't keep happening again and again and again and again. And when they choose to keep their cams off, I find it even harder to give them that benefit.
At a news conference Sunday afternoon, Minneapolis Mayor Betsy Hodges called on the BCA to share the details of the shooting as quickly as possible.
“We have few facts at this point,” she said. “This is an awful situation. My heart goes out to everyone in the community, especially the family of the woman that was shot.”
It would be nice for the fact to come out before making judgements against the police officer's.
