America sees alarming spike in middle school suicide rate

Ours is not a healthy society, and we are not interested in solutions because the issue is this society itself. Symptoms we might take a feckless swipe at for appearances sake though.
Reality does not conform the how we have our heads organized, and we are not willing to change our heads.

I agree with the cause attributed to lack of parental guidance. Also agree that some parents are barely adult and probably products of less than perfect parenting themselves. One of the issues with parenting is, at some point you, as a parent have to release your child to the general population. There they come in contact with offspring of other parents whose style/guidance is not the same as yours. Like a sporting event, someone has to be the first to sit down, so everyone can see the game. Good luck getting children to give up phones/electronics, their parents have their noses buried there as well!

I agree...people are increasingly reprehensible....

I disagree. I think it's just that now everyone has a megaphone to scream through. Whereas in the past this wasn't the case.

I suppose I'm fortunate not to have had any kids, but had I had any, they wouldn't have had a cell phone. Had I been inclined to get them one, they'd get a prepaid regular phone, one that just made phone calls. That's what I have now, and I hardly ever turn the thing on. I have it for emergencies when I do my long bike rides. I went to school without a cell phone. Why can't today's kids do the same?

We also had phone booths then. Good luck finding one today.

Family finds clues to teen's suicide in blue whale paintings

One man who may be connected to Blue Whale is a 21-year-old psychology major named Philip Budeikin. According to Russian state news agency RIA Novosti, he was arrested in November. Authorities from the St Petersburg District Court confirmed in a press statement that there is an open investigation into his charge of "incitement to suicide." The Investigative Committee press release says that Budeikin has confessed to creating the game and used the VK.com social site to encourage 15 to 17 teenagers to commit suicide.
