Melania Trump and fellow leaders’ wives are trapped inside hotel as German police call for reinforcements after streets of Hamburg turned into a warzone by protestors throwing petrol bombs

A police station has been firebombed and cars and buildings set alight in the German city of Hamburg, where world leaders are holding crunch talks today.
Police have called for reinforcements after tens of thousands of protesters descended on Hamburg, causing chaos.


US First Lady Melania Trump is reportedly trapped inside her hotel room and some world leaders were late arriving to the G20 summit because of the protests.
Her husband, President Donald Trump, was forced to take a detour because of the widespread disorder.

The security forces have already brought in tear gas and water cannons to try and get the crowd to go away.
I think flash bangs will be required and or non-lethal ammo.

the problem is the escalation at this point. if they are fire bombing things already it can't get much worse.
they went from throwing rocks to throwing Molotov cocktails.

the g20 is always protested but this is getting out of control.

Has happened at every single G20 summit that has ever been held, from Washington 2008 to Hamburg 2017. Nothing to do with Germany.

The gathering of the heads of government of the 20 most powerful (more or less) nations on Earth is the obvious target for anarchists and anti-statists the world over. They all tend to congregate at these events, and anarchists are rarely pacifists. Goes with the territory.

Yes M. Trump is "stuck" in her golden cage, but chances are that is more due to the paranoia of the secret service, than anything dangerous.

The riots are very localized in part of a district called Altona. It is about 60 to 200 people causing all the problems.

Now outside the convention center itself, there are far more protesters and they are all peaceful.

The right wing media and fake news guys are really milking this by making it seem that the situation is far far worse than it in reality is.

Oh and no police station was firebombed.. a couple of cars and police cars were burned overnight.

yet they are being terrorized by people throwing fire bombs.

Few seems to be a gross underestimation.
There are thousands of people there.

They've had to call in police from outside and the "protesters" are burning cars, destroying businesses.
