Austria has announced it is ready to use soldiers and tanks to stop migrants crossing its border with Italy, as Brussels urged Europe to help Italian authorities manage an “unprecedented” arrival of people from North Africa.

A record number of people are expected to cross the Mediterranean sea in 2017, with arrivals 20% higher than this time last year. Since January, 85,183 people have arrived in Italy, compared with 71,279 last year, according to the latest data from the International Organization for Migration. A total of 2,150 are reported to have drowned in the central Mediterranean this year.

I know quite a few Austrians, and some were crapping on Hungary closing their borders... I'll have a few good laughs with them when we meet next time.

They should put the illegal invaders in ships and send them back... but the EU is a testicle free enterprise.

After several years of this, they still haven't figured it out... and US Leftists want us to be more like these morons... and we were under Obama.

The same situation could develop on the US border with mexico if we do not take action now.

Build the wall and back it up with US troops as needed

It could, but we haven't made as much of a mess in South America as the Europeans have of Africa.

Clearly you know nothing about Austria, but here is a clue, they have no ports on the Med. They used to have but that was long time ago.

You just exposed your massive ignorance. Let me help you. Was just there last week. Know it well. Been there often. Know Kärnten, Burgenland, Niederösterreich, Tirol, Oberösterreich. This time I was near Neusiedlersee. Nice place.

You see... Austrians have a border with Italy. Stertzing, Bolzano (Bozen), Merano... die region mit die blau Schürze (former Austrians)... a pass called Brenner might come to mind. You see, these migrants come through that pass. It's also why you find German border controls TODAY in Kufstein and the crossing near Bad Reichenhall/Salzburg.

They could also come through other borders, but these I know best.

Would you like to learn more. Don't hesistate to ask. I was also around the region when the illegal invasion exploded two years ago. They actually stopped trains from running between Salzburg and Munich. The parking garage under the train station in Salzburg (FORUM 1) was used to house the mass of humanity.

The don't have ports... that much is true, but illegal invaders march... as the invasion 2-years ago ... of a million plus clearly illustrated.

No fear of others. I spend most of my life in the company of foreigners.

We have a nation. That nation has a border. The nation also has laws about who may and may not enter. The nation has laws about how to get into the country, and be able to stay.

Illegals break these laws.

I know it is difficult for Leftists to understand simple concepts like this, but please try. And try not to default to the tripe about fear of others you folks have been poisoned with.

Let me get this straight, you're arguing the leftists, who base their immigration position on real facts rather than the barking of heretics, should have an open enough mind to cause damage to society. I'll run you through some nuggets: Illegal immigration is net negative of late, immigrants are more likely to own business or, attain education, and their high birth rates lead to economic growth. But, you want everyone to have an open enough mind, to blame the problems caused by the activities of the 1% on them. You're a poor, misguided soul zimmer. You are being manipulated by people above you, to blame people below you, and fight the people who stand up to the purveyors of oppression.

Leftists are for open borders. They do not respect our borders. Obama, Clinton and the Demokrats have made that clear.

They are for "sanctuary cities", and defy laws... releasing illegals in their prisons before ICE can get to them. This law has been restated, so the snake-like Leftists can understand it.

Obama was the deporter in chief. Your line of attack here is non-factual and inconsistent with reality, and more about fomenting an air of tribalism, to use any hot button issue to attack Democrats.

Why does Trump want a border wall, when the majority of unauthorized immigrants overstay visas? (which is a civil offense, not criminal.) Why does he want a border wall, when they could just take a boat across the Gulf? Or, apply for a visa and just never leave, like most of the illegal immigrants in this country. Why did he start an illegal immigrant hotline, to report illegal alien crimes, when illegal immigrants are less likely to commit crimes than U.S. citizens? The Border Wall and immigration EO's, are thinly veiled racism, under the cover of nationalism. It's the oldest trick in the book and you fell for it.

Why are we going down the stupid path? We need immigrants in this country, to work jobs and stimulate growth. We want to attract people to our country. Not shut them out.

Like the EU in the crisis? Funny thing is that we had done calculations of when and how many the mass migrations would entail. Some of the professors thought it unavoidable that migratiin as proportionately sizable as the one that knocked Rome down woukd come in this century.
