Twitter Reacts To CNN's Threat Of Doxing Reddit User Who Created Trump's WWE Video

In an article titled "How CNN found the Reddit user behind the Trump wrestling GIF," the network stated that the user in question has "issued an apology for the video and other offensive content he posted, a day after CNN identified the man behind the account and attempted to make contact with him."
...

The network, however, did not publish the user’s name stating that "he is a private citizen who has issued an extensive statement of apology, showed his remorse by saying he has taken down all his offending posts and because he said he is not going to repeat this ugly behavior on social media again."

"CNN reserves the right to publish his identity should any of that change," the article read on the network’s website.

Pretty much what you'd expect from one of the big gears in the Fascist Left's propaganda machine - threatening to ruin anyone who, even jokingly, does something they don't like.

Yeah I cant say Im too cool with CNN threatening people like this. I think I am at the point where I would not object if they had their press passes pulled. They really dont deserve the access privliages of journalists if they are going to continue to abuse them.

That HanAssholeSolo and posters like him/her can help to confirm the sick and twisted world views of potential terrorists. Even more so if posters and the people following them believe that the posters have the endorsement of the president of United States. Some more example of HanAssholeSolo postings.

The user, for example, posted a link to a meme that advocates running over Muslims with a tank. He or she also posted a meme that identified CNN contributors as Jews using a Star of David. The user also frequently posts racists comments that target African-Americans in particular, in one instance writing that Americans spend less on Father’s Day than Mother’s Day gifts because “most blacks don't know who their fathers are.” The troll nature of the user is perhaps best exemplified by a post in which HanAssholeSolo makes clear he just posts certain things to get a rise out of people. “Don’t mind me,” he writes in one post consisting of a burning Quran, “just posting an image to offend Islam.”

Trump’s CNN tweet appears to have originated from HanAssholeSolo, a racist, Islamophobic, misogynist Reddit troll.

Also, it was Donald Trump that turned HanAssholeSolo into a public figure by tweeting his/her video.

Threatening someone with something they won't like in exchange for action/inaction on their part is the legal definition of coercion.

The fact that the inaction required involves speech makes this a case of one first amendment protected right being used to chill and suppress another.

That is truly deplorable.

If CNN declared a bed time for you, or else, and there were real consequences behind that or else that would make your life harder.... how would you feel about it? Wouldn't it be hypocritical to complain about it, since parents do it to children all the time?

Journalism isn't about deciding what is right and wrong. Journalism is about reporting facts. I would have been 100% ok with CNN finding this guy's name and publishing it as a fact. What we have instead, though, is an organization using their gigantic bullhorn to threaten people.

People are outraged over CNN's actions.
Apparently the person who created the WWE meme is 15 years old.
Many of them are retaliating by creating more memes of Trump taking down CNN with a message @CNN, "want to dox me too?"
And now #CNNBlackmail is quickly becoming the news story of the day.

None the less CNN should be hammered for this.

Not only is not doxing people a general rule of the interwebs, it's incredibly unethical for "journalists" to do.

I’m split on this to be honest. It does strike me that the manner in which CNN handled this was inappropriate, making the whole thing much more personal than it really was and picking up this one individual for bad things he’s done when there are countless other people doing the same things simply because he was apparently the originator of the clip Trump tweeted.

That said, I’ve no sympathy for trolls. If simply associating his real name with the account would “ruin” him, maybe he (and all the people like him, included some posting here) should reconsider what they post in the first place. If he’s being honest in his statement, hopefully he has done that. The media identify people who have done bad or stupid things all the time (on-line or in real life) so on that basis, I don’t think this should be treated any differently.

I don't care if they liked or didn't like the video.

I don't see how they are lenient at all nothing the guy posted was wrong or anything else. it was a joke video which are posted all the time.
There is a difference in the two the fact that you don't see it is amazing.

Gifford wasn't brave just stupid.

Just read, this isn't the first time this particular "journalist" did this.
He used to work for Buzzfeed (not surprising) and was the guy who reported on a woman's alleged "racist" tweet about people in Africa.
Which she was flying to.

When she landed, she was hounded by reporters, fired from her job and had to go into hiding, because she was receiving threats.
