A so-called “patriot” shot himself in the left thigh when his holstered revolver accidentally went off at Gettysburg National Park, where potentially violent protests were expected Saturday.

Benjamin Hornberger, 23, was wounded in a central area of the federal park around 1 p.m. as First Ammendment advocates were demonstrating, a U.S. Parks spokeswoman told the Daily News.

Seems that people heard a rumor that Antifas (An anti-Fascist organization, which claims to be dedicated to defacing Confederate monuments all over the US) was planning to destroy Confederate monuments at Gettysburg. Just 3 problems here.....

1) There are no Confederate monuments at Gettysburg. Just Union monuments.

2) Antifas had no plans to go to Gettysburg, and nobody from that organization was there.

3) And the kicker? Idiot shoots himself in the leg.

For the record. If Antifas destroys monuments in any area, they need to be disbanded and put in prison.

Finally, heeding every rumor you hear is usually not good for your health. LOL.

Lucky for him there weren't any demonstrators, or he could have been looking down the barrel of prison time, instead of his own!

Confederate Monuments - The Battle of Gettysburg

There are 12 state monuments at Gettysburg honoring Confederate soldiers, including Maryland, which honors the men of the state from both sides. All of the Confederate state monuments except Maryland can be found along West and South Confederate Avenues

Protests planned at Gettysburg battlefield this weekend

Reports that the anti-fascist group Antifa plans to burn Confederate flags and desecrate graves

This is the guy I fear when going to indoor shooting range. You don't know anything about the guy in the next stall firing live ammo.
Of course it is like driving your car. You are approaching a car coming your direction with both going 70 mph only feet apart and you know nothing about their driving skill.

Everything has a risk I guess but when one of these morons screws up I think there should be a strong penalty that leaves a mark. He is lucky someone didn't get killed.

There's no excuse for an AD. Knowing the condition of your firearm is fundamental. I'm not happy he shot himself, but if anyone was going to be shot, it's a happy circumstance that he did it to himself only. What a dope.
