Senate Democrat blasts 'Obamaphone' over fraudulent findings, complete lack of oversight' | Fox News

The GAO report found that about 10.6 million people have an Obamaphone, but 36 percent of them may not qualify, according to the Washington Times. The audit also concluded that more than 5,500 people were found to be enrolled for two phones, while the program was paying for about 6,400 phones for persons the government has listed as dead, the paper reported.

complete lack of oversight has cost taxpayers billions of dollars.

Well... I wish I could say I was surprised but I'm not.

complete lack of oversight has cost taxpayers billions of dollars.
Yeah. Almost as bad as the missing billions in Iraq that Bush could never account for.

The 'Obamaphone' lie was debunked and proven false YEARS ago. But many on the Right still cling to the lie and are uninformed.

No wonder they voted for Trump.

Obama has nothing to do with that program, actually no president does.

The deplorables are truly deplorable, and uninformed.

It really does amaze me how so many people don't seem to know when the program started but make so much noise about it.

Lack of oversight was the name of the game under the Dems. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the extra Obama-phones were sent to people in the White House for personal use.

You spelled Reaganphone wrong.

Was that an effect of the trickle down economics? If so, I imagine and being generous that trickle down may have bought a few phones

Yeah. Almost as bad as the missing billions in Iraq that Bush could never account for.

as usual you can't respond to the topic why is that? strawman noted and dismissed.

I'm shocked.

that is the problem with free government programs. they just hand out money without ever verifying where the money
is going and who if it is going to the right place.

that has nothing to do with the topic. why can't you respond to the topic?

The program started under Reagan, so it's it's either a Reaganphone or it's attributed to the current president which makes it a Trumpphone.

first off cell phones were not very existent during Reagan they were largely expensive and no one used them.
but this doesn't deal with Reagan this deal with Obama and his free cell phone policy.

now if you want to comment on that topic please feel free otherwise you are derailing the thread.
it has nothing to do with trump either.

Not a fan of the program no matter who's in the white house while the program is in effect.

With that being said, if you want an honest discussion at least attribute the program to the president who started it or who is currently executing it.

Who is supposed to oversee the program?

Re: Senate Democrat blasts 'Obamaphone' over fraudulent findings, lack of oversite

You did see this was Democrates harshing this?

Yep. I did. But it still has NOTHING to do with Obama.

I'm considering the source. Both the OP, and Fox. Both have NO idea hat they are talking about. No surprise.

This nonsense was started because of a video of a woman saying thank you Obama for her Cell Phone. And for years the Con media and the uninformed people who listened to the Con media are dumber that the woman on the video. Because again, OBAMA HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS PROGRAM. NOTHING!!

Does it make you feel better that you are as ill informed as some anonymous woman on a youtube video? lol She was speaking uninformed. But the Cons and Con media have had YEARS to Google this and see that it's all nonsense and lies. But many still believe the lies. So who's dumber? I'm going with the Cons.

If Cons weren't so lazy they would see NO president has anything to do with this program. Not Reagan, Not Clinton, Not Bush 2, not Obama. But that takes some thought and work. And most Cons are lazy, and easily lead by the nose.

Do you guys really think that making a phone available to those who need it is something evil? If you think so, perhaps you have never been in need and don't understand how vital this service is for some to dig themselves out of a hole.
Do you think that, because we call it Obamaphone, it is only Democrats who are in need?
Can you name one entitlement or program that hasn't been abused?
Do you have any compassion, or do you have nothing left in your souls than partisanship?
Listen to yourselves.

Awww damn. A government program with good intentions gets out of control and has no oversite.

It was greatly expanded under Obama: that's why they're called Obamaphones.

A fairly broad line can be drawn between being compassionate and being an enabler.
