What To Expect in the Senate Health Care Bill

Red States no less. The **** will hit the fan.

Nah it won't. GOP voters will NEVER blame the GOP for anything. This monstrosity of a healthcare bill will be the fault of the Democrats in the mind of your average GOP voter.

**** with the senior vote at your own peril. 15,000 people a day are tunring 65.

Let me ask you something. When has screwing over working class/poor Americans ever hurt the GOP?

It seems to get them to turn out in higher numbers to vote for the GOP. It seems like a perfect example of the sunk cost fallacy. If they keep betting on red they have to win at some point, right? They have already committed this much, what is a little more?

Meh, as long as the GOP continues to convince their base that everything wrong with America is due to liberals, Democrats, gays, Muslims, blacks, illegals, etc, then the GOP base will always vote Republican. It will never change.

What To Expect in the Senate Health Care Bill - NBC News

To recap: The contours of the Senate bill that are very similar to the House's, according to the Post:

The individual mandate is gone;Medicaid expansion is phased out;Obamacare's taxes on the wealthy are eliminated;Planned Parenthood funding is ended for one year.

But here are the differences with the House bill:

Subsidies for lower-income Americans are tied income (instead of age);Medicaid is phased out more gradually, but benefits would be less generous (due to a slower growth index than the House bill uses).

If the democrats are smart, they steal the headlines by releasing their own version later today. Force a compare / contrast situation.

Unfortunately, they won't and many of us being tied in with last week's shooter will either have no party to support, a corporatist party, or a plug your nose and vote for the cowards.

Ugh

There is no political will from either party to actually fix 80 years of bad legislation.
The problem is both a failure of democracy and a failure of government.

People want as much medical care as they can get and they don't want to pay for it.
That's what will be pandered to.

No single payer won't "fix" it either.
