What To Expect in the Senate Health Care Bill - NBC News

To recap: The contours of the Senate bill that are very similar to the House's, according to the Post:

The individual mandate is gone;Medicaid expansion is phased out;Obamacare's taxes on the wealthy are eliminated;Planned Parenthood funding is ended for one year.

But here are the differences with the House bill:

Subsidies for lower-income Americans are tied income (instead of age);Medicaid is phased out more gradually, but benefits would be less generous (due to a slower growth index than the House bill uses).

If the democrats are smart, they steal the headlines by releasing their own version later today. Force a compare / contrast situation.

Unfortunately, they won't and many of us being tied in with last week's shooter will either have no party to support, a corporatist party, or a plug your nose and vote for the cowards.

Ugh

The idea that they will put this bill before the larger body without thorough public hearings on it to examine its details and implications is completely alien to our system of representative government and a betrayal of their duty and obligation to the American people who will be largely impacted by this proposal.

I really do hope this Bill passes and gets signed by Trump ASAP ... the sooner the GOP enacts their plan, the better.

I want the Voters who put these people in office to start receiving the benefit of their choice ... immediately, or better yet, retroactively.

So you want a law that would be detrimental to Americans so you can benefit politically...

Unfortunately that is the game. Watch the bill not have full implementation until 2019 or 2021 so we don't feel it's effects until after election(s).

That is why I am asking democrat leadership, where are you?

We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what's in it.

Wasn't that the house version? The first draft.

Stupid thing to say, still hurting the party. Unfortunately, the GOP ran on that line and now are behaving the same.

We the people are the ones getting hurt.

We have the ****tiest healthcare system on the planet amongst advanced post-industrial nations. By design. It is THE most expensive and most inefficient in its class as well. And it will remain that way until the american public is willing to get out in the street and demand what a majority of the population has been for, for some time.

"Both" parties serve the substantial people alone, never "the people".

I assume it will be a way to funnel tax payer dollars to Big Pharma and Big Insurance while limiting and removing healthcare coverage and access for the People.

Not the same - when Pelosi said that anyone who cared knew what was in the bill, because the process was open and we could if we wanted all follow along the public debate.

The Senate process really was done entirely behind closed doors with not a minute of public hearings. There is no comparison.

The GOP plan won't be any better than Obamacare. In the end it will simply be a different version of Obamacare with a bunch of bandaids and duct tape.

The cost of medical care is too high. This is the root of the problem. I'm not talking about the cost of medical insurance, I'm talking about the actual care. What in Obamacare or the GOP plan addresses this?

Millions of people will lose their insurance. They'll get sick, go bankrupt trying to pay for health care, and they'll die.

That was happening before 2008, then came Obama who tried to fix it, then guess what happened.

Some people like Politics over Reality ... so here comes both .. Big Time.

Trumps Voters thrusted Trump to create a Beautiful Healthcare System ... just like that Beautiful Wall.

And that right there is the kind of rhetoric which motivates the easily influenced to go out and committ acts of violence.

You are correct.

So I shouldn't point out that the bill will result in millions losing coverage, that many will get sick as a result of not being able to afford health care and will die?

You're hoping for a tax cut bill to pass that will leave millions uninsured so you can see some political goal fulfilled.

Hey! That poor kid with cancer can just go to the emergency room for his chemo.

Oh wait....

Sowing the wind, crying about the whirlwind

The Republicans have The Presidency
The Republicans have The House
The Republicans have The Senate
The Republicans have The Majority of The Supreme Court, the only thing I can hope for, is that the people who Voted in a Moron, gets everything they coming to them ... and more.

I'm in control of me and my family, not Donald Trump.

... what I want or hope for counts for nothing.

Please give the full quote if you plan that silly comment... The ACA had hearings... Don't hold your breath for them this time...

The Republicans are in control of the Federal government, so your way of "fighting back" is to fight for poor people losing their health coverage. Way to go.

Did you ever consider the possibility that successfully stopping the Republicans from passing this bill would not only be very good for people, but would also be highly invigorating as a Democratic cause?

We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what's in it.

False equivalency fail.

The ACA was debated for over a year, had over a hundred hearings, took 161 amendments to the bill from Republicans, Obama himself answered questions about the bill over the year, and countless town hall meetings took place to get input from voters.

Trumpcare is written by thirteen people in secrecy over the course of two weeks, has no hearings, no amendments, no town hall meetings, and neither the majority of the Senate nor Trump himself knew what was in the bill as it was being crafted.

So I shouldn't point out that the bill will result in millions losing coverage, that many will get sick as a result of not being able to afford health care and will die?

No one will get sick becasue of a piece of legislation. Right now the government administered system is crumbling. Premiums are so high most people can't afford to maintain coverage. Those who can afford coverage can't handle the ridiculous deductibles. The system you demanded has resulted in complete disaster in the health care field. Your side made a mess and now it's up to others to clean it up and you are crying about it.

23 million people will lose their coverage as a result of the bill. If you are human, then you know someone who is a friend or family member who needs their health coverage for some type of treatment for an illness.
