What To Expect in the Senate Health Care Bill

No one will get sick becasue of a piece of legislation.

Yeah, I mean, they won't get sick because of it. They will just lose their medical coverage so they cannot go see the doctor when they get sick.

The Republicans are in control of the Federal government, so your way of "fighting back" is to fight for poor people losing their health coverage. Way to go.

Did you ever consider the possibility that successfully stopping the Republicans from passing this bill would not only be very good for people, but would also be highly invigorating as a Democratic cause?

No ... me personally ... No

But I did successfully shield myself from Republican Stupidity.

The sooner people feel the pain of Trump and The Republicans, the soon things can get back to normal.

You can' make an Omelet without breaking a few Eggs ... I know it's Heartless and Cold, but this is what it's going to take.

Remember, there still people out there who Still think that a Private Email Server is more Dangerous that Donald Trump Publicly pacing Secure Information in a Tweet. Maybe a Purge of Stupidity is in order.

I'm ready, you better get ready also and stop preying that Republican will someday Grow a Heart and start caring.

You're no better than Republicans who voted for Trump under the misguided notion that a better nation will be built on its rubble. You're just the left wing version of a Trump supporter.

They've already lost their coverage because the deductibles and or premiums are exploding. Plus insurers are abandoning the system. It's a liberal created mess.

What To Expect in the Senate Health Care Bill - NBC News

To recap: The contours of the Senate bill that are very similar to the House's, according to the Post:

The individual mandate is gone;Medicaid expansion is phased out;Obamacare's taxes on the wealthy are eliminated;Planned Parenthood funding is ended for one year.

But here are the differences with the House bill:

Subsidies for lower-income Americans are tied income (instead of age);Medicaid is phased out more gradually, but benefits would be less generous (due to a slower growth index than the House bill uses).

If the democrats are smart, they steal the headlines by releasing their own version later today. Force a compare / contrast situation.

Unfortunately, they won't and many of us being tied in with last week's shooter will either have no party to support, a corporatist party, or a plug your nose and vote for the cowards.

Ugh

LOL In typical GOP fashion they remove the taxes that provided all the income from the ACA but keep the subsidies that they paid for. Because Reagan proved that deficits don't matter.. You really have to wonder what they are thinking. If this conforms to the budget reconciliation rules they must have some new math in the bill too.

23 million people will lose their coverage as a result of the bill. If you are human, then you know someone who is a friend or family member who needs their health coverage for some type of treatment for an illness.

You have no idea what will happen because no one has seen any bill yet. You are just running on Pelosi / Schumer partisan sound bites.

Hacks.......

It was a huge mess before too. Obamacare didn't do much except force people to buy insurance, but it's not like it made the mess. Our healthcare system was a mess, is a mess, and will be a bigger mess after Trumpcare.

America currently pays more for with less access to healthcare than any other advanced nation. It's rather disturbing how far we'll go for the profit of the insurance companies.

I predict that the ACA and medicaid will be gutted, massive tax breaks will be handed out and the whole thing won't go into effect til at least after the midterms, maybe after 2020.

The republicans are nothing if not predictable. They only know one tune.

The idea that they will put this bill before the larger body without thorough public hearings on it to examine its details and implications is completely alien to our system of representative government and a betrayal of their duty and obligation to the American people who will be largely impacted by this proposal.

LOL, again what a short memory, Nancy Pelosi, "We have to pass the bill so we will know what is in it." Where were those public hearings on Obamacare?

What the left wants people to ignore is that the 23 million HAVE A CHOICE now which they didn't before and of course they are going to promote the worst case that all those people will CHOOSE not to participate. Same tired old argument where it appears that Choice only matters to the left when it involves abortion?

So you are defending current stupidity with past stupidity, or just more stupidity.

elosi: People won’t appreciate reform until it passes

Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Tuesday that people won’t appreciate how great the Democrat’s health plan is until after it passes.

“You’ve heard about the controversies, the process about the bill…but I don’t know if you’ve heard that it is legislation for the future – not just about health care for America, but about a healthier America,” she told the National Association of Counties annual legislative conference, which has drawn about 2,000 local officials to Washington. “But we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it – away from the fog of the controversy.”

During a 20-minute speech, she touted benefits she thinks will be tangible to the audience’s employers. She said there’s support for public health infrastructure and investments in community health centers that will reduce uncompensated care that hospitals now need to deliver.

And she was right about it. The ACA has never had such high approval as it has today.

According to Mark Peterson, chair of the UCLA Department of Public Policy, one easy metric by which to judge transparency is the number of hearings held during the development of a bill, as well as the different voices heard during those hearings. So far, the GOP repeal efforts have been subject to zero public hearings.

In contrast, the ACA was debated in three House committees and two Senate committees, and subject to hours of bipartisan debate that allowed for the introduction of amendments. Peterson told us in an e-mail that he “can’t recall any major piece of legislation that was completely devoid of public forums of any kind, and that were crafted outside of the normal committee and subcommittee structure to this extent”.

FACT CHECK: Was the Passage of Obamacare Was Just as Secretive as GOP Efforts to Repeal It?

Hey, I watched in disbelief at how President Obama was getting treated. He was making decisions to enrich himself and his family.

So you can say I'm no better that Republicans, but ...
I was for Obamacare, even though I would not benefit from it.
I was for higher taxes for social programs, even though I would not benefit from it.
I was for increased wages ... I'm a Job Creator and I pay top dollar for my talent, that's why they don't look elsewhere.

I'm 4 or 5 years from retirement ... I'm done giving a ****. The Republicans Won, now let the world live with it.

No justice double standard by the Democrats and the liberal media

Nice liberal spin which I've come accustomed to from you

There is no spin just facts. Sorry if facts have a liberal bias. Now tell me that you like the fact that the Senate bill removes all the revenue from the ACA while keeping the subsidies that it paid for. Let's see you "spin" that.

That's true. When people choose to not purchase health care insurance, it's not being denied them by government.

No revenues are removed. That's a silly position to take. Changing the system of financing something isn't removing it.

Speaking about predictability, the left wing hysteria and spin is 100% predictable.

Get real. ALL the taxes on the wealthy were removed. What were they replaced with? Snowflakes? We are talking about over 900 billion in revenue over a decade.

If the Democrats are smart they'll release their own version ? Lol !!

Their version was released and signed into law back in 2010 and its currently coming apart at the seams

After ObamaCare why would ANY voter or any sane indivudual defer to the Democrats when it comes to our healthcare ?
Lol ! Its a unmitigated disater, but hey guys, let the Democrats have another crack at healthcare.

Not the same - when Pelosi said that anyone who cared knew what was in the bill, because the process was open and we could if we wanted all follow along the public debate.

The Senate process really was done entirely behind closed doors with not a minute of public hearings. There is no comparison.

1) Politifact (yes, even Politifact) said the criticism of that Pelosi statement was mostly true.

2) Would this be a good time for you to once again avoid answering my question about whether the Democratics and their surrogates lied about Obamacare before it was passed?
You did bring up Obamacare public hearings here and it is a different thread and all.
