President Carter's National Security Adviser, Zbigniew Brzezinski, has stated that in the spring of 1979: "I encouraged the Chinese to support Pol Pot. I encouraged the Thai to help the [Khmer Rouge]. The question was how to help the Cambodian people.[sic] Pol Pot was an abomination. We could never support him. But China could."

PolPot and the Khmer Rouge came to power from the massive war crimes, the massive saturation bombing the US inflicted on Cambodia.

I seriously doubt the Syrians are as outraged over US intervention there as some say here. We know at least some Syrians (the Kurds) are very pleased the US is intervening, I expect Syrians who have been victimized by daesh would be happy too, certainly the Syrians who oppose Assad must be glad for the US involvement. Syrians under Assad's control have no opinion of their own.
