Incredibly sad. The families of those wounded are also victims. They must be devastated.

This type of violence to me...is similar to terrorism. The gunman was using his violence to send a message, not just to randomly shoot unsuspecting people.

If assasination isn't terrorism then they are at least very closely related since they are both politically motivated.

Thanks for posting this X Factor. I read the same thing at Free Beacon. I listened to Rep. Williams' account of what happened today and couldn't help but break down and cry. There was a line of blood soaked ground from where Scalise after being hit drug himsel away from the base for yards from where he was shot.

Prayers for Scalise.

Yeah. I said this in another thread. I was shocked to know he was in critical condition after the earlier reports seemed to play down the injuries at least away from being deadly. I had thought he was shot by a pistol but he was shot by a rifle that did a lot more damage than most pistols could ever do.

It concerned me when they talked about the trail of blood because it sounded like a lot of blood loss.

The saving grace is that the assailant was a piss poor shot, but apparently he used a rifle, I assumed handgun because of the shot spread and inaccuracy. Hip shot with a rifle is never a great position to start with and I was hoping it wasn't the case.

on June 12, 2016, nearly 50 people were assassinated in a gay bar in Orlando, Florida; same thing happened there ...........

Unfortunately, with wounds like I'm hearing he got, neither is likely, esp. 'fully'.

I hope he recovers to the point of living a full and comfortable life, whatever that may mean in his case.

I don't know how bad of a shot he was because he pulled a gun in the middle of a virtual cop rally with so many DC police in the vicinity. Rand Paul said he heard what he believes as at least 50 shots. I wouldn't be surprised if roughly 47 of those were at the gunman and not from him.

Yeah read about a trail of blood he left moving so seems like a lot of blood lost, but still hope for the best that he recovers fully.

Apparently the shooter was subscribing to the spray and pray school of gun use.

He was firing a lot of bullets if this video is correct.

This is awful. I spent all day thinking the victims were stable and supposed to recover, and now I read this. It's sad how one lunatic can have a horrible effect on so many. I hope for the recovery of the victims.

A rifle at that distance should have been way more lethal, with a lot of body shots. Just about any modern rifle should be accurate up to at least 7-1,400 yards. This being an ambush one would have to take out adrenaline to start, a good shot would have been catastrophic, especially since this guy had obvious intent to kill.

That is also the mark of a piss poor shot, no attempt at shot selection is the mark of an undisciplined shooter.

Yeah but I think the shooter was trying to hit as many things as possible.
