The 97-2 vote, which came as part of a broader debate over sanctions on Iran, marked a rare spot of agreement between Democrats and Republicans, who said they hoped it would be the beginning of more such deals.

Wonder who the two Senators were that voted against it?

Doesn't the President have to sign the proposal?

Sounds like it would have more than enough support to override a veto if Trump went that route.

I just wish that we could ever be shown evidence of this.

well if it gives you any comfort, its not like the time we invaded Iraq, killed 4000 Americans, hundreds of thousands of Iraqis, spent a trillion dollars and destroyed our standing in the world. Nobody has an agenda to lie about the evidence against Russia and ignore evidence to the contrary.

Just two Republican senators voted against the Russia sanctions amendment. They were Sens. Rand Paul of Kentucky and Mike Lee of Utah.
Lee is well known to be soft on Russia.

Good for the Senate. US sanctions on Russia should remain indefinitely until Moscow stops meddling in our elections, withdraws its military from eastern Ukraine, and returns Crimea to its rightful owner.

Now we need to secure our election system

and returns Crimea to its rightful owner.
The Crimean people are happy to be under Russian control and adamantly opposed Ukranian control. If that should happen I expect a true civil war Ukraine.

And now they're part of Russia and are happy with the arrangement. Do you think the will of the people should be ignored?
At the time of the Russian invasion in 2014, the Constitutions of both Ukraine and Crimea (ARC) stated that any change in the status of Crimea had to be approved by the Constitutional Court of Ukraine and by a national referendum.

2% of Ukraine's citizens (Crimea) cannot unilaterally decide the fate of land that belongs to 100% of all Ukraine citizens. Hence the required national referendum.

If some folks in Crimea want to have Russian citizenship, Russia is only a bus ride away.

In reality, Putin couldn't care less about Crimea and its people. His only interests are the naval base at Sevastopol and the gas/oil fields in the Black Sea off the Crimea coast.

Russia held the phony referendum while Crimea was under armed occupation

Driving Russia ever more into the hands of the Chinese based upon fantasies of Russian wrong doing is a FANTASTIC idea!

From Russian Propaganda:

The move is seen by multiple political analysts as a concession for Democrats who, in exchange for bundling Iran and Russia sanctions into one bill, will roll over and play dead when Republicans try to jam through a secretive repeal and replace bill for the Affordable Care Act (a.k.a. Obamacare).

Given the unlikelihood that the R's will actually do that, that is come together to vote to pass an ObamaCare solution, giving stuff away is a bit foolish.

Maybe I am wrong, maybe THIS TIME the R's can get-ur-done.

You disbelieve the unanimous findings of not only the CIA, NSA, and FBI, but foreign intelligence agencies all over the world in France, Germany, etc.?

And you think the people who believe, you know, the unanimous consensus are the ones entertaining a fantasy...?

There so-called findings are business as usual.

Which is being used an an excuse to make sure that Trump cant get ahead by doing good deals with Putin, and they hope can be parleyed into part of the charges in the Trump impeachment.

They have nothing much.

Russia hacking the voter rolls of 39 states is not buissness as usual.

Why should we make any deals with Russia when they clearly want to sow discord amongst ourselves and our allies.

China seems to be the better option to ally with.

The West is dying and sometimes Putin finds it advantageous to push the death curve, it only if it helps the China/Russia alliance.
