There was no honeymoon period. The Democrats begin trying to destroy him the day after the election. Look at this way, only 8% of democrats approved of the job Trump was doing the last week of January, still only 8% approve today. That isn't anything near a honeymoon. Compare that to Republicans when Obama took office, 41% approved of him at the end of January 2009, they were giving him a chance. Although Republican approval dropped to 26% by the 8th of June 2009.
The big difference is with independents, They gave Obama a 62% approval rating at the end of January 2009 and a 56% approval in the middle of June 2009. Independents gave Trump a 42% approval at the end of January and a 31% today.
The big difference is no one tried to destroy Obama prior to him taking office like the Democrats have done to Trump. Now Trump is his own worst enemy and he has caused quite a lot of his problems himself. The bottom line is no one gave Trump a honeymoon. Like him or hate him, he had no honeymoon.
I think once you get away from Trump's supporters, you'll find out not many folks like him. His persona sucks. With Obama, even when most folks disagreed with his policies, he was well liked as an individual. Personally. Unless you're an avid supporter of Trump, it is very easy not to like him at all, personally, as an individual. He is obnoxious, uncouth, unpresidential and a ton of other things.
