Yes... from an oppressive government.

Venezuelans had their shot at Socialism, at it tanked the country fast. This is the fruit of their labors. I wonder, when they end the reign of these scum, how long will it be before they try the idiocy again?

Stealing from other people as socialists like to do, and waging class warfare is attractive to the ignorant and pliant.

But hey, they're all fit, having been on the Hugo Chavez diet... each losing 19 lbs.

I think J-mac was trying to illustrate the destructive results that happen when Socialists have power. We had one for 8-years, and he really screwed it up good.

It'll take a while to get the sand and gum out of the gears here. The Venezuelans... I'm sure they wish they weren't disarmed.

Because as a people, we are incapable of the level of 'hive mentality' needed for socialism to actually function. We care about our own welfare and the welfares of our friends and family before we care about the welfare of the greater good.

I've lived in several former Communist countries, visited others.

After a couple decades of the Commi's falling, the infrastructure is crappy to awful. It gets repaired, progress does happen, but the scars are visible.

The worst of it though is the mind fark. That will take a century to erase. I thought a couple generations, but no way... the rot is deep.

The luck the Venezuelans have in this, is their Dance with Idiocy has been short and painful. They'll likely come out of this with less brain-fark... but I've never been there. Here's to hoping.

The worst part in my mind is that the same decay is rapidly occurring in Argentina and Brazil as well, and that whole continent is headed downhill.

Brazil had a crack in the corruption train and is cleaning it slowly, that's interesting, but yeah... they have problems.
