Comey suspects Loretta Lynch was working with Clintons

While it may have made Comey wet his pants, there was nothing illegal about the president talking to the FBI director privately, especially considering that Trump was not under investigation. Hillary Von Pantsuit was.

You didn't answer my question. If hoping the investigation into Flynn is "let go" is totally legal, why did the president studiously remove any other witnesses?

You misunderstood Comey. There certainly was criminal conduct. he just claimed he could not prove intent, therefore he advised against prosecution.

The investigation closed with the FBI clearly demonstrating criminal conduct but recommending no action be taken on it.

That's just not true. You misunderstood Comey's testimony.

Criminal : relating to crime.

Crime : an action or omission that constitutes an offense that may be prosecuted by the state and is punishable by law.

Comey : "No reasonable prosecutor" would bring such a case.

No, I think I understood it quite well.

Ousted FBI Director James Comey said Thursday that he suspected former Attorney General Loretta Lynch was in cahoots with the Hillary Clinton campaign last summer.

Lynch, he said, told him not to refer to the probe into Clinton’s private email server as an “investigation.”

“She said just call it a matter. … That concerned me because that language tracked how the campaign was talking about the FBI’s work,” he said.

Comey is good for something.

If there is something there... I hope he gets it, exposes it, and takes down those involved.

If it wouldn't even justify an indictment, it's not criminal behavior.

Well Trump's statement didn't. But putting classified documents on an unsecured and unauthorized server would be considered prosecutable for pretty much anybody in government if they were not Hillary Clinton. And deleting thousands of e-mails and then scrubbing or destroying the hard drives to make them unretrievable sure smacks of obstruction of justice to me. Had that been somebody in the Trump administration, you guys would be screaming bloody murder. But when it is Hillary, oh well.

Well, the 6'8" prick didn't leak it to the media, did he?

Since when is it Director FBI's role to judge what a reasonable prosecutor would and wouldn't not do? Doesn't a federal prosecutor get to make that decision?

Not his job.

Exactly. Not his job.

Given what has come out in Comey's testimony, there might even be an obstruction case for Lynch's influence on the email case, but given the bar for such cases I don't think that this is going to be pursued, unless it's part of a larger consistent pattern, which it might be.

I'd be satisfied if Mueller's investigation covers this, examines all the evidence, and documents its conclusions and why. This would be the 'bright disinfecting light' that everyone seems to be in favor of, as am I.

Definitively bad for Lynch to exert that influence over Comey.

It was obviously spurred by a partisan witch hunt, but it was also a legitimate investigation. That's an important detail to remember when considering that the investigation was closed without establishing any criminal conduct.

Wait a minute. Are you saying there was no server removed from the umbrella of government security used for state department business and hacked by up to five foreign agencies?

Did Clinton’s emails contain classified information?

Yes. More than 2,000 of the 30,490 emails Clinton turned over to the State Department in December 2014 contained classified information, including 110 emails in 52 email chains that contained classified information at the time they were sent or received, Comey said. The FBI director said “a very small number” of the emails containing classified information “bore markings indicating the presence of classified information,” contrary to Clinton’s claims that none was marked classified.

“Although we did not find clear evidence that Secretary Clinton or her colleagues intended to violate laws governing the handling of the classified information, there is evidence that they were extremely careless in their handling of very sensitive, highly classified information,” Comey said.

Another not his job moment.

Three. Three emails out of 35,000 had a little "c" in the body of the text that the State Department later said were human error and shouldn't have been there. Comey practically indicted Clinton and then he exonerates her because he had NOTHING to nail her with. Comey made a lot of mistakes during that investigation, including costing Clinton the election...and now he's trying distract the public by going after Lynch. He deserved to be fired...just not by Trump.

No, i don't think you understood my post. I was explaining that the FBI's investigation was legitimate.

You don't think investigators advise prosecutors? How little do you know about how our criminal justice system works?

If this Special Counsel is so hot, he will bulldoze his why though Obama starting at Fast and Furious, segueing though Clinton and the Clinton Foundation, cruising back to the spying by Obama on citizens including Trump and his associates, and then ending with Trump. And when it is all over, interested parties should start suing the news media for libel - ala Gawker - every time they make up a story that turns out to be false.
