Trump to nominate former Justice Dept lawyer to lead FBI

All I remember from that time was the Lewinsky scandal, and even at that time the Conservatives hated Hillary. I still remember kids at school wearing "Don't blame me, I didn't vote for her" shirts at school.

Yeah, I was pretty young. I liked the Clintons because I thought he was handsome and she was pretty. Pretty much the extent of an 8 year old's political opinions.

Predicition: the MSM and the DNC think it's a terrible hire.

Just a wild hunch.

Guaranteed. Everything Trump does is terrible. You sure went out on a limb with that prediction. ;)

I wasn't really interested in re-reading all your posts--broken records aren't my thing. Trump isn't the first President to fire an FBI Director and he won't be the last. The President is the head of the Executive Branch and the FBI Director is his employee.

He's the first i've heard of to demand a loyalty pledge.

Wray is currently an attorney at the law firm of King and Spalding. That presents a bit of a problem, since that firm represents the Trump Organization.

Aaaaand just to double down on that, K&S also represents Rosneft, the Russian-gov't controlled oil company.

Rosneft is the firm mentioned frequently in Christopher Steele's dossier.

My, what a small, small interesting world.

No one wants to enter the dumpster fire, so President scratch-n-sniff decided to nominate from within the dumpster.

No surprise.

Um, J. Edgar Hoover, Clarence M. Kelley, and Louis Freeh all beg to differ.

Thank you. I stand corrected. I have a distinct memory of watching a political show in which they stated no FBI director had ever been appointed from within. So either they were wrong or I am misremembering. Probably the latter.

Well, you're right that it's more common for them to have attorney/DOJ/judge type credentials than experience as an FBI agent.

What i think is most common is some background in law enforcement, a criteria that Wray meets but other potential President Trump picks like Senator Cornyn and Lieberman did not (iirc).
