Report: Russia Launched Cyberattack On Voting Vendor Ahead Of Election

Report: Russia Launched Cyberattack On Voting Vendor Ahead Of Election : NPR

Russia's military intelligence agency launched an attack before Election Day 2016 on a U.S. company that provides voting services and systems,

Hmmm...this should make people concerned.

Or even that the Russians attempted to hack the elections, they were unsuccessful in changing the results (I think this likely).

If they don't want to go to prison, why are the willingly committing felonies? Your misguided and confused conclusions are noted.

Lol!! You don't seem to understand how our legal system works. You are not punished for committing a felony. You are punished for getting caught committing a felony.

What you are asserting is that a heroin dealer might as well drive 100mph over the speed limit because he's already broken one law. It is a mind numbingly stupid argument, but you're making it nonetheless. Any rational heroin dealer would diligently obey the rules of the road so as to deter the possibility of getting caught.

You seem to think that criminals go out of their way to point themselves out to authorities, which, again, is a mind numbingly assumption.

A claim of election tampering made out of desperation.

There is no way to hack the voting systems of this country. They are not connected to the internet, or to each other.

They are not connected to the Internet but often are connected to computers that are.

That is how Stuxnet was able to infect Iranian centrifuges which were not connected to the internet. Someone's computer was infected then they were connected to the centrifuges

READY! FIRE! AIM!

Perhaps you should read the article first; then offer up you comments. No one said that the voting systems were hacked.

"...According to the NSA report, Russian hackers sent emails to people who worked at a company that provides state and local election offices with voter registration systems, trying to trick them into giving up their user credentials...."

You should read more DNC written articles. It's all about winning, not about winning legally. Those democrats are dead and buried or in rest homes.

York: When 1,099 felons vote in race won by 312 ballots

I doubt you care about this, because Franken was the 60th vote on Obamacare.

....and in a race that was won by 312 votes on nearly 3,000,000 cast, what evidence do you have to suggest that Franken would win the "felon" vote 65-35? The idiotic idea that felons should lose the right to vote notwithstanding, its idiotic to think that this cost Coleman the election. Coleman's problem was like Hillary's problem, a poor campaign that let it get that close. Tie goes to the umpire.

Voter suppression in Ohio far more likely cost John Kerry the presidency in '04, but we won't go there now.

Read the article for your answer. Felons are forbidden to vote, regardless of how you feel.

You are twisting off on something that I qualified with a "notwithstanding"... but, felons voting is not the type of voter fraud that most people talk about.....

You assume 1) there actually were 1,099 felons that voted illegally and 2) they broke better than 65-35 for Franken. However, when these was investigated, charges were only brought against 43 people for illegally voting. The actual known number of questionable votes was closer to 400. It is silliness.

A Washington Examiner article who's support for the notion that the vote would break "65-35" Franken is based upon "..with evidence suggesting felons, when they do vote, strongly favor Democrats.." Based on what evidence? That is a shallow line of reasoning, even for the Examiner.

I have wasted too much time on this silliness already. You can have the last word.

How are they going to get caught? Answer me that.

They successfully steal an ID, which Kevin De Leon, which the most powerful politician in California claims "almost everyone" does, they register to vote using that name, since nobody checks the registration, and then they vote.

How do you think thousands of dead people vote every election cycle? A rotting corpse shows up at the polling place?

There is a numb mind involved here, and you might want to do something about it.

More completely unsubstantiated drivel to drive a predetermined agenda against the sitting President because the media is throwing a tantrum.

The media is so embarrassingly pathetic.

So no concern about fair elections? This should trouble you no matter who won.

I'll just chalk this up to "Who cares, Trump won."

Actually to anyone paying attention, many of those people admitted that they voted for Coleman. The premise ignores that Minnesota is one of the bluest states there is.

Liberals have been screaming that there was no election fraud for years, while you continually committed election fraud.

I have little doubt there was plenty of fraud this time.....in California. Illegals and dead people vote in droves in that morally bankrupt hellhole.

First of all, committing the felony of voting illegally makes no sense - risk jail, and at least permanent deportation, for the purpose of casting ONE vote. Illegals aren't any dumber than you are, and why would you make that bad bet - jail with a roughly 0.0001% or so upside chance your one illegal vote gets your guy elected!

Second, you're insisting that lack of evidence is evidence or is at least irrelevant. Registering leaves a permanent record, and so does voting. Lots of people have a vested interest and lots of money to prove that illegals vote in numbers above the trivial, and despite the permanent records registering and voting leave, no one has ever produced this evidence.

How do you think thousands of dead people vote every election cycle? A rotting corpse shows up at the polling place?

They don't. It's a myth. Fake news. Right wing lies.

BS. Prove it. There are lists of dead people and lists of voters, and lists of citizens and lists of voters. Anyone can compare them and you cannot produce evidence that the dead or illegals vote in numbers above the trivial.

Every discussion is the same with voting. Right wingers make claims that is contradicted by ALL the evidence, this is pointed out, and they don't care. Evidence isn't needed, and if the evidence goes the other way, it's ignored. It's why it's impossible to have rational discussions about voting because one side to the debate literally does not care at all what the evidence shows.

Thankfully, we have the Electoral College, so two massively bankrupt and corrupt states can't determine national elections for everyone so easily.

SOP reply.

First, the most powerful politician in California admitted almost all illegal aliens use stolen identities to survive. That is a felony. They invent who they are. Why wouldn't they also use this invented, legal alias to vote?

How many investigations are conducted by authorities to insure every vote is legal? Can you answer that?

CBS News conducted an investigation in California that proved hundreds of dead people have voted year after year in just Los Angeles Country. Impossible to tell who they voted for though. True?

So as I expected, you've posted nothing. You have no facts, nothing constructive to offer, just a dismissive partisan response based on vapor.

You should know better.

How so? Do you have some informed opinion on the subject, or is this usual level all you can offer?

Illegals commit "felonies" by getting ID and working and living here illegally because they like food and lodging and their kids not dying. That's why they commit the crime of working and living here illegally.

The idea that they commit that crime or crimes (being here and working illegally, perhaps with stolen ID) because they don't care whether they go to jail or not, so why not commit a bunch of other felonies, like voting, which has no payoff at all, no upside at all, and the downside of getting deported, going to jail, leaving their kids without a mom or dad to work and provide for them is so stupid I can't believe anyone made that argument.

All you've done is appeal to emotion. You've offered nothing but that.

Illegal aliens commit crimes every single day. Day in, day out.

When they are fake people in terms of their identities, why would they suddenly draw the line at voting? Why? How would they be caught? If the felony they have committed in using stolen identities doesn't result in arrest, why wouldn't they also vote?

Consider the last vote. Immigration was a pretty big issue, don't you think? Why wouldn't they make use of the fake illegal identity they created to also vote?

You're appeals to emotion don't touch the fact that it would be entirely logical that they would.

If thousands of votes have been cast year after year by dead people, you think they are going to catch many thousands of votes by fake people who appear legal?

You've completely erased any logic in your comments.

Already addressed - there is no upside to committing a voting felony, and registering illegally and voting illegally both create a permanent record of your crime.

As Upsideguy pointed out, it's like asking why a dealer carrying 100lbs of heroin from Mexico to San Francisco doesn't also do 150mph on the freeway during his trip, since a speeding ticket is a minor crime compared to drug dealing. Gosh, it's a mystery!

How many investigations are conducted by authorities to insure every vote is legal? Can you answer that?

CBS News conducted an investigation in California that proved hundreds of dead people have voted year after year in just Los Angeles Country. Impossible to tell who they voted for though. True?

No, the investigation found 32 possible dead people who voted over a period of 15 years or more, across several counties in southern California. LA county alone has 4.3 million registered voters. If they all "voted" in a single election, which is NOT what the investigation showed, they would represent 0.0008% (0.000008) of the total registered.

But, this proves a point I make all the time - nearly all 'voter fraud' is by absentee ballot. Dead people voting isn't a problem anywhere, but obviously every 'dead person' vote is by absentee ballot and voter ID laws don't touch this kind of fraud.

So as I expected, you've posted nothing. You have no facts, nothing constructive to offer, just a dismissive partisan response based on vapor.

LOL - you post an article, wildly misstate the facts and conclusions, then say I have nothing constructive to offer. Irony!

Right, for the most part they commit the crime of applying for a job, getting it, and working for an agreed upon paycheck. Sometimes they use fake ID TO GET A JOB! Terrible. Hardened criminals! Work FOR PAY!

And obviously they would vote because despite the downside of leaving a permanent record of their crime and risk being jailed, and deported, for no upside at all, they figure - why the hell not risk years in jail? Same reason it's rational for a drug dealer to run red lights right in front of cops!

Consider the last vote. Immigration was a pretty big issue, don't you think? Why wouldn't they make use of the fake illegal identity they created to also vote?

You're appeals to emotion don't touch the fact that it would be entirely logical that they would.

LOL, my argument is an appeal to emotion and yours is logical, because it makes no sense and assumes effectively that illegals are irrational and will treat the crime of working for pay illegally the same as voting illegally, although the former allows them to eat, pay rent, and survive and the latter helps their life....ZERO!

If thousands of votes have been cast year after year by dead people, you think they are going to catch many thousands of votes by fake people who appear legal?

You've completely erased any logic in your comments.

So far you've demonstrated that up to 32 'dead' people might have voted in all of southern california in any given election. You're just a little short of showing "thousands" of votes. Best get to work!

You've addressed nothing, countered nothing, and offered nothing but emotional arguments.

I don't expect that to change, so I'll leave it at that.

Well, sure I did - I addressed the fact you can't read your own article and honestly report the facts in it. So you lied or failed in basic reading comprehension - not sure which but neither option says much good.

And I pointed out your "logic" about felons being indifferent to committing other crimes with no upside is in fact quite stupid.

Stop with the personal attacks. I didn't lie. If you can't make a rational argument to support your position, move on.

It disingenuous and pathetic you resort to such a tactic to cover for your inability to support your position.
