Comey to testify publicly about Trump confrontations

Yes, I very much agree.

Comey's already worked-out his testimony with Mueller, and will not jeopardize the fed investigation. He'll give the investigatory body and public what he desires (for whatever reasons), and he'll clam-up on the rest.

I also suspect Trump is really, really, really, *sorry* he ****ed with Comey, the FBI, and the CIA. He's learning a lesson here, alright.

(I wonder what Trump and his pals will be doing on the day of the hearing? I suspect they'll be watching! :lamo)
 
So, how does CNN know exactly what Comey is going to say?

As you know full well these investigations take time. Recall Watergate?? Began with a break in in Jun 72, with at least 48 people found guilty and Nixon resigning.

This is more complicated due to the large number of players under investigation



If Trump did attempt to interfere, many would buckle under the weight of the President asking. Some would fear for careers and such. Thing is that attempting that with Comey, if true was just another in a long line of Trump screw ups.

He has slammed the Intelligence branches for months. Stating the Russian investigation was fake news.
Just waiting for Mueller to subpoena Trumps tax records.
In this case, follow the money will be critical- from Flynn to Mantafort and yes to Kushner.

Now 1 clear question
For the sake of discussion- If Trump did ask Comey to halt the investigation into Flynn's ties to Russia- What would your opinion be

1 clear answer. If the president threatened him or in any way attempted to order him to bury an investigation, I'd say sayonara senior Trump. If the president said man...I hope this thing can all go away (without an 'or else' attached), then I'd say my opinion would be similar to what Comeys apparently was. Not something he was comfortable with (apparently. Love to see the memo) but not something he felt hindered the investigation in any way and under oath not something that he felt he was ever forced or compromised over.

Not giving a clear answer dependent upon circumstances, some would consider that lying.

Physical stature is relevant. Comey was the director of the FBI and had the rule of law behind him...also relevant. Its funny watching you people squirm. I stated quite clearly...I look forward to seeing how a 6'5" director of the FBI felt cowed and threatened. So much so that he never in 4 months expressed that he had been threatened.

If accurate, that would be a bombshell. It might deserve it's own thread.

It seems the only thing missing is an indie committee, and it would be nice if Comey's testimony spurred that on, but I don't think it will. But without an indie committee, much of what happens won't become public unless Mueller goes public with a report. And he has no obligation to go public. He can simply say "indict or "not indict", and it's all over (with the citizens left in the dark).

An indie committee would be better for public rest, regardless of the outcome, once this is all over.

Comey has the least credibility of anyone in this whole debacle of an investigation.

It started when he chose to speak on behalf of the DoJ with the Hillary findings and not move forward despite a mountain of evidence against her.

Now, he's going to testify that he was coerced to stop an investigation four months ago, and he didn't say or do anything about this coercion?

Might as well let Rachel Maddow testify on his behalf.
