Or you know, the excellent quality of French military technology, their high quality training. Or that one guy who revolutionized warfare, what's his name, Napolean?

Or how about the fact that in WW1 the French suffered so many losses (more fatalities than American soldiers have been killed in every American war) that it crippled French war efforts two decades later.

Or the fact that any dumbass comment about the weakness of the French military is invalidated by Verdun.

He's gonna shine all the brighter with Trump as a backdrop.

Reading that article, it reminds me of the days when we had someone competent in the U.S. that we could read about and judge on the merits of their strategy, rather than on their tortured and contradictory language, or their random and unsubstantiated tweets.

Real easy to talk **** when you've never had to fight to defend your nation's soil, and in the process 100,000 men are killed in defense of it. Tell me, how do you think the American public would react if over the next six weeks 100,000 American soldiers dropped dead?

So tell me, what were the reasons behind the French strategic planning for the Second World War? How had the First World War shaped French war policy and doctrine? Why were French forces allocated in the way they were?

Ask any military analyst in the world and they'll tell you the French military is both highly trained and very capable. It's probably 4th after the US, Russia, and China.

But nah man, those nuclear submarines, aircraft carriers, destroyers, modern fighter jets and awesome main battle tanks just don't mean **** huh?
