Roger Moore, best known for playing James Bond in seven of the 007 films, has died. He was 89.His children shared the news on his verified Twitter account Tuesday that Moore had died in Switzerland after a "short but brave battle with cancer."
"With the heaviest of hearts, we must share the awful news that our father, Sir Roger Moore, passed away today. We are all devastated," the statement said.

Rest in peace Sir Roger Moore. I always liked his Bond movies.

I liked him. He gave a restaurant a nice feel. He always look so correct.

Damn shame.

His movie ffolks was awesome.

that movie for some reason has not been seen by many people i know

Excellent movie.

The arrogant Brit cat lover was an great role for him.

Roger was my personal favorite JB. He brought the perfect level of humor to the character. He had a gift for not taking himself serious, as that was required, since it was all bull****. Sean Connery played it too straight, IMO.

Greetings, SMTA. :2wave:

I totally agree! :applaud

R.I.P. Sir Roger Moore - you were perfect for the role you played in those movies! Condolences to his family and friends from all his fans! :peace

RIP. Great actor he was.

tough day for England

No kidding. You folks don't need anymore crap.

BTW, please don't send Ariana Grande back - just lock her in a dark and dank closet somewhere.

Roger Moore saved James Bond from being irrelevant in the 70's, and played a lot of other magnificent roles. My favorite of his roles was as a mercenary in the Wild Geese. He made it look so easy. RIP.

Gee, that's sad news - he was great as James Bond, and also The Saint.

May you have endless martinis, shaken but not stirred, Mr Moore. RIP.

He was the workhorse of the Bond franchise.
Connery
Moore
Brosnan
Craig
Dalton
Lazenby

For me, in that order

Is he the first Bond to die?

Personally Roger Moore was the personification of 007, but that is mostly because he played the part when I was young and got interested in movies. I was too young to have seen Sean Connery in the cinema and seriously did not like the way the movie series went when Brosnan took over. I favored the way Roger Moore and Timothy Dalton played the part and later I also learned to enjoy Sean Connery as Bond but I disliked the Brosnan movies. The new one is reasonably OK but I am still most partial to the Moore/Dalton movies.

I also loved Moore as Simon Templar and really respected him for his work for Unicef and his fight against the animal cruelty that is foie gras.

Rest in peace Sir Roger, you made the world a little better as an actor and as a person.

He certainly got a lot of mileage out of that eyebrow! RIP Sir Roger!

I first became a fan as a kid watching him play Simon Templar (the Saint). My favorite movie of his was his costarring role with Richard Harris and Richard Burton-the Wild Geese.

He will be missed
