The attack on the lower and middle class is underway. Trump and his buddy, Carl Icahn, who serves as a specialist financial advisor, to the White House don't have to worry about Medicaid. They don't have to worry about being in an income situation, where they may need Food Stamps. And the wealthy Oligarchs, like Icahn, are laughing all the way to the bank.

U.S. President Donald Trump's budget proposal, set to be unveiled on Tuesday, will include cuts to Medicaid and propose changes to other assistance programs for low-income citizens, the Washington Post reported on Sunday.
...
The Post report said the White House would also give individual U.S. states more autonomy over a variety of anti-poverty poverty programs including the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, the largest U.S. anti-hunger program, which was formerly called the food stamp program.

Social program giveaways are driving the budget deficit.

They have to be put under control or we are doomed

And this is why Republicans will lose the house and senate in 2018 and the presidency in 2020. You guys don't give a damn about Americans, but you'll ok a defense budget increase in the billions so you can kill brown people overseas. Good to know you are more concerned with killing brown people overseas than saving actual Americans here. Oh forgot about North Koreans too, since Trump and his trupeteers are getting hardons to continue the North Korean war to kill more Koreans as well, South Korea be damned.

Why do you think WaPo and Schumer failed to mention the $100's of billions of cuts to Medicaid and other programs they proposed during the previous administration?

Perhaps there is little truth to be had in the media many have been trained to believe.

If the never ending deficits are to be addressed, lots of new ways to finance programs must be explored.

It's understandable followers of these propaganda pieces from the left's media partners are not told the truth, as that would jeopardize the objective.

I don't think there's a chance in hell the GOP loses the Senate. 23 dems are up for reelection and only 8 reps.

Yes. the Iraqi War will end up costing the US over $6 Trillion. All in the name of the Bush/Cheney US military superiority complex, outlined in the Cheney/Wolfowicz PNAC (Project for a New American Century) philosophy.

It will when people wake up and realize the Republicans are ok with over spending to kill foreigners, but not ok with spending to help Americans. If we can't help Americans, we have no business starting or continuing the wars we have.

You guys have no trouble writing blank checks for wars and killing foreigners but you despise helping Americans. This is conservative's values and why it has to be stopped.

Thank you for a relevant and well formed argument addressing the point in the OP and the comments I made on it.

Just showing the truth that you cons hate Americans and love killing foreigners. The truth is in the fact you guys support wars overseas and a bloated DoD budget but you despise helping Americans. Sorry you hate the truth con, don't worry I would be embarrassed to be a conservative as well.

Too much hate and venom to discuss rationally, I do have to question this point from the article: "White House would also give individual U.S. states more autonomy over a variety of anti-poverty poverty programs". Why do you not trust the states to made decisions for their citizens but you do trust the Federal Government?

The answer lurking in the background is that the left doesn't trust states they don't control. The firm belief is that as long as the left controls the federal government and such programs remain under federal control, it doesn't matter what the toothless, gum sucking rubes in red states believe. That is spoken by the left here all the time.

I have to ask. If the economy inherited from Obama is doing so well, why shouldn't we be cutting food stamps? Why shouldn't we be doing what Keynesians always say we should, cut programs during the upturn? Or is it just a bad disguise to raise social spending no matter what?

It's about time someone did something , time for able bodied lazy asses to get a job and get off the government tit !

Social program giveaways are driving the budget deficit.

And that's fine if Republicans want to cut them to pay for tax cuts for the $billionaire class like Trump. The problem is Trump said something like this many times during the campaign:

Trump told the conservative Heritage Foundation that “I’m not going to cut Social Security like every other Republican and I’m not going to cut Medicare or Medicaid.”

Of course most of the country knew he was a liar and would say anything, and might say something entirely different the next DAY if he thought it would help, but it's pretty striking he makes that pledge and right off the bat endorses the Ryan plan to cut nearly a $TRILLION from Medicaid, and is now taking aim at the other social welfare programs.

There is a reason the federal government had to get involved in the first place. The end result is that millions will suffer while the conservatives continue to allow blank checks for wars. I would rather take care of Americans first instead of wars. Yes, that also includes Americans over refugees and foreign aid.

You just hate the truth that you love killing over helping Americans. I can't help your sociopath behavior.

If there aren't cuts to the military then it's not a serious budget.

What is the fraud in the media? Trump promised no cuts to Medicaid, Medicare or Social Security, and he's proposing huge cuts to at least Medicaid. I know in modern times every single story, like every single thread about Trump, has to include a "both sides do it" couple of paragraphs, and a "BUT OBAMA!!!" or "BUT CLINTON!!!" diversion so we don't talk about Trump or only about Trump, but it's not actually a fraud to point out Trump's broken promise.
