WASHINGTON (AP) — The Latest on President Donald Trump (all times local):11:25 a.m.A lawyer for fired National Security Adviser Michael Flynn has informed the Senate Intelligence Committee he will not honor its subpoena for private documents. That’s according to the panel’s chairman, Republican Sen. Richard Burr of North Carolina.Burr told reporters Thursday about the response from Flynn’s lawyer. Burr says the panel’s members are not surprised and says, “We’ll figure out on Gen. Flynn what the next step, if any, is.”The committee is one of several on Capitol Hill investigating possible collusion between Russia and President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign.Flynn was ousted earlier this year from his senior administration job.
The plot thickens. This might complicate things moving forward. I'm interested to hear what Flynn's reasoning is behind choosing to not honor the subpoena. Is it possible that Flynn could be held in contempt of court? Thoughts? Comments?

The next logical step, is Flynn will be held "in contempt" and actually arrested. I believe that's what happens next, but perhaps some legal scholar Trump supporter can come tell me why I am wrong.

Reasoning? He's a criminal or shielding a criminal. What do I win?

So where we are now is that Congress can issue a contempt ruling, which would necessitate that the Justice Department arrest Flynn. If the Justice Dept doesn't comply then we have [yet another potential] Constitutional crisis.

It is definitely a possibility. This doesn't look good at all.

Well yeah, I think he's definitely got something to hide. We already know he's not a completely innocent party or anything; he'd still have his WH job if that was the case. I'd just like to hear what his excuse is.

Mueller can and will subpoena Flynn as well..

The DoJ has already convened a grand jury on the matter.. and prosecutors have issued subpoenas on the criminal side. Flynn's in hot water and not in the jacuzzi & champagne kind of way.

His excuse will be something pathetic. It's official: every character in this drama is William H. Macy from Fargo.

Yeah, Flynn's pretty screwed.

To clarify, the grand jury subpoenas are of "Flynn associates"..

You may be able to squirm out of refusing to answer a subpoena from Congress...

But, avoiding a grand jury subpoena? That's not procedural, not right, and we can't allow it. I've had court before, how come I couldn't just say, "No. I don't want to go." Maybe I should've taken half a mil from the Turks too

BTW, I like the title,

"The Latest:" Sounds snazzy.

You have to physically go but you can assert fifth amendment and not answer questions, which starts another set of processes

Flynn has beans to spill and he was begging for an immunity deal months ago. Sounds like he's threatening to fall on his sword now.

Would that be a deposition?

I'm not following your logic. The subpoena was for "private documents," not for Flynn (or associates) to answer questions.

We were talking about the grand jury subpoenas, issued by DoJ.

It's like Trump University offered a seminar entitled "How To Dispel Any Notions That You Don't Have Something To Hide."

Scuttlebutt now is that Flynn may be the one (strategically) leaking a lot of what's recently come out.

The list of possible leakers is kind of long. My favorite pet CT is Pence. Up until the latest scandal that guy has avoided the taint of Trump in a way that requires the suspension of disbelief.

He wantses the presidency. he wantses it. precious! yes!

From what I understand, he's compromised neck deep in all of this.

His gambit to create an image that he's above all of this, shocked ("shocked, I tell you!") and somehow, magically, the steadfast moral compass has failed.

He's know since at least Nov 19th that Flynn was likely dirty and has lied through his teeth about all of this.

Pence is smart.
