Another name being considered, according to your article, is Senator John Cornyn. He would be a good candidate too; his resume includes being Chief Justice of his state's Supremes.

I like cornyn but hes pretty political. Too political for me in a position that should require independence.

That's a pretty big mouthful off accusation that isn't backed up by much more than "leaks by unnamed sources". If we all knew what you know, we wouldn't need a special counsel, would we?

I'm an "investigate to find the facts" kind of guy. I get that it's old fashioned, but hey, I slept in a Holiday Inn last night.

Schummer is scared to death of the party's left wing. He doesn't know how strong it is or isn't. He will get a hint in 2018, but he and other DNC brass are worried about media over representation.

Apparently there's enough to warrant a special counselor, it's not like I made this up out of thin air. If you're an investigate the facts kind of guy you should totally support this and not just blindly accept everything Trump does as the word of god like Hawkeye does.

The dem's deal in outrage, not facts. To suddenly wake up and find out a SC has been appointed has to be a shock. Think of the strategic implications of a Special Counsel being seated at the snap of your fingers in a Republican administration - "OK. Here you go!"

The SC is a former FBI head, and as such this investigation will be kept private except for leaks, of course, but it will be out of the media spotlight. That is the benefit to the Republicans, especially if they know there is no "there" there. If they suspected Trump was going to fall, they would have dragged their feet.

BTW, this is as much about Comey as it is about Trump.
