OMG.

The White House said Thursday that removing FBI Director James Comey from his post may hasten the agency's investigation into Russian meddling.

"We want this to come to its conclusion, we want it to come to its conclusion with integrity," said deputy press secretary Sarah Sanders, referring to the FBI's probe into Moscow's interference in last year's election. "And we think that we've actually, by removing Director Comey, taken steps to make that happen."

Congressional Republicans will be working overtime to rationalize putting off an independent investigator after this admission.

For those already getting ready to say this was taken out of context:

"I think the bigger point on that is, my gosh, Tucker, when are they going to let that go? It's been going on for nearly a year," she said on Tucker Carlson's Fox News show. "Frankly, it's kind of getting absurd. There's nothing there. We’ve heard that time and time again. We’ve heard that in the testimonies earlier this week. We've heard it for the last 11 months. There is no ‘there’ there."

"It's time to move on, and, frankly, it's time to focus on the things the American people care about," she added.

Good. It's nice to have a president who had the intergrity to be brutally honest with the American people. I'm glad that Trump fired Comey to bring the Russian investigation to an end.

And I'm glad you're being honest about that.

Shocking to humans, but lets be honest. If Trump were to come out and say "yeah we worked with Russia to take out that lying bitch, so what?". Greater than 95% of his supporters would be fine with it, would they not?

You beat me to it!

This is obstruction of justice.

What do you think this part means?

"We want this to come to its conclusion, we want it to come to its conclusion with integrity,"

And it will take time: months possibly years for the truth.

But the investigations should last as long as they have to in order to uncover the truth.

That they want the investigation to end. See post #3.

That they want the investigation to end. See post #3.

Yes to it's conclusion whatever that might be.

Dragging it out for political purposes helps nobody.

That is what I read into it, however to drag it out and let the insinuations hang out there helps nobody.

I say just let the Dems handle it after Nov 2018. Its obvious the GOP has no interest in getting to the bottom of the lies and deceptions. The Dems should refuse to nominate the future FBI Dir until they get the independent commission, or wait until next year.

See post #3. Sanders has been very helpful in spelling out the motives for firing Comey, as if anybody needed to have those motives explained to them in the first place.

Had President Obama done ANYTHING like this, there might be literal rioting in the streets by now. And there would definitely be impeachment proceedings

But this is Trump, and we now see examples of Trump supporters' supporting obstruction of justice:

I would like to remind people that obstruction of justice is a crime. A literal crime. And no, we will NOT let this injustice go. That is not how justice works.

You beat me to it!

He could have shot HRC on 5th Avenue! It would have been a landslide! Inauguration would have been SRO!
