I can't make it make sense. Was he ever even interested in going to that school and that degree? I really don't know.

Of course he was portrayed as such. "He was always such a good boy...worked hard, did his homework and dreamed of being the first in his family to graduate college"

Just think about what Trayvon would've had to do to get an advanced degree.
 
I feel no animosity toward Martin. I still think the jury made the right decision on Zimmerman but I sincerely wish their altercation had not been deadly for either one. Had Trayvon been a student at that school or even about to start classes there, I could understand and would likely have thought it a nice gesture. This just seems so random.

I think this institution, realizing young Mr. Martin had few scholarly achievements to honor, was trying instead to honor his obvious scholarly inclination.
