A black teen died following an encounter with police near Dallas. His death has just

Seems as though the shooting can be seen around 12:45 in this video.

Re: A black teen died following an encounter with police near Dallas. His death has j

Look at the percent distributions. 49.3 vs 48.7. It doesn't matter what the total population of black or white people is, criminals commit crimes for their own reasons. Not because of some cultural or racial reasons. Saying there is something wrong with black people inherently because more people per 100,000 commit crime is just ludicrously ignorant. Poverty is the biggest driving factor of crime. More black people live in poverty and are looking for the dishonest dollar for lack of honest ones, that is it, black on black crime is just a buzz word aimed at elderly people who grew up during segregation. "Vote for me, because I will crack down on the inner cities and do something about black on black crime. Only my party can keep these animals from murdering each other." It's all propaganda meant to keep the drug war raging.

another factor to consider is prohibition. What was the crime rates during alcohol prohibition vs now with drug prohibition. Hmm, seems like prohibition may be more of a factor than race. Alcohol was legalized because people were tired of rampant crime. Didn't hear anyone complaining about white on white crime, just crime. But, you keep telling yourself that "blacks" are just inherently more violent.

That (bolded above) assertion is false. While the poverty rate is higher among blacks there are far more (nearly 3 times as many) poor non-blacks (over 27 million) than poor blacks (under 10 million).

Re: A black teen died following an encounter with police near Dallas. His death has j

Wouldnt it be sweet if one of these threads didnt involve rhetoric about "whites" black" "thugs" or "cops" until people knew what the were actually positing about?

now that would be a modern day miracle

Re: A black teen died following an encounter with police near Dallas. His death has j

The only reason to mention per capita is to make some point that its an inherent cultural flaw. Are you saying black people have an inherent cultural flaw that makes them more prone to violence?

Nonsense. The only reason not to mention per capita is to avoid that statistical reality. You have no problem using the racial poverty rate (which is obviously per capita based) and have even used that to state a (completely false) greater number of blacks living in poverty than non-blacks living in poverty. The assertion that a greater percentage of blacks commit homicide than the percentage of non-blacks do is simply a fact.

Re: A black teen died following an encounter with police near Dallas. His death has j

Then why paint all blacks with the same brush?

Indeed, that would be a problem just as attempts to use police shooting statistics to paint all police with the same brush. From what we do know: a single police officer fatally shot a single vehicle occupant (a front seat passenger) with a rifle. Why is the race of the shooter or the deceased of any importance? So far, that has not been established as a relevant factor.

Re: A black teen died following an encounter with police near Dallas. His death has j

Yes, the same oppurtunity and treatment. There are millions of black folks in America who have jobs and never get into trouble with the law.

"The soft bigotry of low expectations"

Ecofarm's version of whiteness is worse for the black community than he'll ever be able to admit.

Moreover, look at the disproportionate news coverage of a shooting at a mostly white gaming convention in Florida versus why is happening in Chicago every day.

I can only assume that these same bleeding hearts who so quickly turn to rage over Florida because of "the kids" just don't give a **** about the poor black kids dying in Chicago because, when it comes right down to it, the emotion is a facade meant to bolster a narrative and nothing more.

Re: A black teen died following an encounter with police near Dallas. His death has j

Was this a unjustified shooting ?

That largely depends on who is permitted to do the 'justifying' and what (if any) review of that process is in place. Everyone is allegedly presumed innocent until proven otherwise beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. The problem is that not everyone is as likely to face that kind of justice. Under the 'just us' system our police are very unlikely to face arrest, indictment and a criminal trial. Rest assured that if a mere civilian fatally shot a passenger in a police car that was allegedly 'driven in a threatening manner' that they would be immediately arrested and held w/o bond.

Re: A black teen died following an encounter with police near Dallas. His death has j

Actually, I made the claim the white people commit crime just as often if not more. And he brought up the per capita with an unsourced chart to prove that white people are better than black people. So I showed that they do commit crime just as often with sourced reliable information, and now your throwing some strawman net with a bunch of veiled insults. Nice try, but you haven't answered the question. Why mention per capita, unless trying to prove that black people have some inherent flaw? Not like I expect you to answer, best to just walk away.

If you want to be on the correct side of the debate, next time find where it started. And who is rebutting who. Oh, and leave out the blanket of partisan insults. Shows how weak your position is.

And using Per Capita Rates is not being accurate, because the measurement can only be used in one kind of argument. The kind thats meant to make white people feel better about themselves and look down on black people. Its an attempt to create an us vs them mentality, to segregate. To say, White People commit crime, but we don't commit as much crime, see these numbers. When really, more white people in the real world commit crime. But you keep seeking accuracy, it's super important we know 50 black people per 100,000 are criminals. That's just real useful information in the fight on crime. It's not, it is useful to racists trying to prove that white people are just better.

You simply cannot continue to have (argue?) it both ways. Either per capita statistics matter (your allegation about the racial poverty rates) or they do not matter (your allegation about the racial homicide rates). Your attempt to show a correlation with (between?) poverty rates and homicide rates was, indeed, partially successful - blacks are 3X as likely to be poor than non-blacks but blacks are 4X as likely to commit homicide than non-blacks. You can argue that people are not totally personally responsible for being poor but cannot use that to 'prove' that they are not totally personally responsible for killing other people.

The simple and basic reality is that very few even among the poor ever commit homicide.

What you will find even more interesting is that those in the poor category are usually single parent homes.

I do not like the sense of a two tier justice system that we have.
It is something that is simply unfounded and unconstitutional.

Even if i am not under arrest or detained if i try to defend myself against a cop who is attempting to grab me
i can get arrested for resisting even though i am not detained or under arrest.

There are other important differences. Much of the 'gun crime' in 'bad parts' of Chicago goes (largely) unreported because the perp is either unknown or has an extensive criminal record (was already prohibited from legally having a gun). If the agenda is to push (show the need?) for more 'gun control' then you need cases where the perp was legally able to own, buy and carry that gun.

Well right, it is the narrative. They are fighting gun ownership in much the same way REFFER MADNESS fought marijuana use.

Yes, but so what? Our "safety net" system seems designed to make that happen. Officially adding a low wage worker to a 'needy household' generally reduces the "safety net" benefits (rewards?) more than their meager income helps that household. It is often financially beneficial to have a 'boyfriend' who does not officially reside in the home than to have a second low income adult added to the household's income.

most 2nd household incomes are not reported.
the problem with our so called "safety net" is that it is not really a safety net.

it doesn't help people get out of poverty as much as it keeps their head barely above water.
it is more like a prison that it is a safety net.

The issue is making $1 more than the government thinks you should and you lose a ton of benefits.
the monetary loss is so large that most people stop doing what they were doing so that they will re-qualify.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/jeffre...term-help-and-long-term-poverty/#2719943d32cd

the system was never designed to help people but keep people dependent on government in order to control them.

The group "police officers" actually includes all police officers and excludes non police officers. Racist rhetoric like "black culture" does not include all blacks nor is it exclusive of others. There's a difference.

isnt it amazing that 75% of blacks are being raised in single parent households

wonder if that correlates somehow?

OK. So what do we make illegal then? Divorce or ****ing?

somehow we make the black community realize this is a HUGE ****ing problem

and until they fix it, the crime, poverty, and chances of their youth are not going to improve much

their number is 15-20% higher than any other racial makeup....

there is something in how they are taught, raised, that teaches them differently than the other racial makeups

i dont have the answer on HOW to fix it....i just know that fixing it is extremely important

having two parents increases the likelihood that the kids will do better in school, be less prone to poverty, and be more successful later in life

i have a number of single moms that work for me...and they work their butts off trying to do it all....and i think they are great

but it is a hard road....and for some reason, the black community has made this even harder

Yes, but what does the government do to fix it? An agency is unlikely to be funded well or actually be effective and as far as legislation, well as I said, what do you make illegal?

why is it so prevalent in the black community?

and as to who can change it?

i dunno...who will the whole community listen to?

is there anyone? how do you change a cultural norm now? that having kids outside of marriage is okay?

that having 3, 4, 5 baby momma's is okay?

i dont have these answers...i wish i did...

the kids take their ques from the rappers, ballers, and such....

but hell i just saw a court case on a basketball player that pays child support to like 6 different women...he is part of the problem....not the answer
