Donald Trump blames constitution for chaos of his first 100 days

I would've gotten away with it too, if it wasn't for that pesky Constitution!

Actually, it was the ignorance of The Constitution by other people that got in President Trump's way.

Yeah, no biggie. I complain about the system, others have as well. Local politicians have. No biggie unless you make it one.

There's a pretty big difference between complaining how gov't is run and saying our system of checks and balances is "archaic" and "bad for the country."

From an article discussiong The Patriot Act:

GOP leaders told Bush that his hardcore push to renew the more onerous provisions of the Patriot Act could further alienate conservatives still mad at the President from his botched attempt to nominate White House Counsel Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court.

“I don’t give a goddamn,” Bush retorted. “I’m the President and the Commander-in-Chief. Do it my way.”
“Mr. President,” one aide in the meeting said. “There is a valid case that the provisions in this law undermine the Constitution.”
“Stop throwing the Constitution in my face,” Bush screamed back. “It’s just a goddamned piece of paper!”

I’ve talked to three people present for the meeting that day and they all confirm that the President of the United States called the Constitution “a goddamned piece of paper.”

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

as far as Obama is concerned, he was also a POS as POTUS ................... his only saving grace was he had the ability to speak well, he had a real brain, and he at least acted presidential, none of which Don Cheeto could claim ..........

When I heard about what Trump said today I immediately thought back to this incident with Dubya.

Is this where Liberals say that The Constitution isn't a "living document" and that is inflexible and isn't "outdated"?
Um, if it's a living document, then it isn't outdated.Liberals in general do not complain about the system of checks and balances. Furthemore, THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES shows contempt for the basic functioning of a democracy, it's very concerning

I never said it is. That's what the Libbos keep screaming.

Liberals have no idea what "checks and balances" means.

You conjured up conflicting statements that nobody would put together. You're basically just name calling and creating straw men to distract from the fact that Trump is saying the sort of things that a dictator would say.

Liberals have no idea what "checks and balances" means.
There is nothing liberal or conservative about the basic functions of the branches of government. What are you even talking about?

Do you agree with having an electoral college?

There was no "incident with Dubya";

Q: Did President Bush call the Constitution a “goddamned piece of paper”?
A: Extremely unlikely. The Web site that reported those words has a history of quoting phony sources and retracting bogus stories.

FULL ANSWER
The report that Bush “screamed” those words at Republican congressional leaders in November 2005 is unsubstantiated, to put it charitably.
We judge that the odds that the report is accurate hover near zero. It comes from Capitol Hill Blue, a Web site that has a history of relying on phony sources, retracting stories and apologizing to its readers.
Update, Feb. 21, 2011: The author of the Capitol Hill Blue story has now withdrawn it. Doug Thompson messaged us to say:

Bush: The Constitution a 'Goddamned Piece of Paper'? - FactCheck.org

This "piece of paper" story was retracted in 2011 and TOTALLY unsubstantiated before that.

Y'all really, really need to catch up.

Do you agree with having an electoral college?
Yes, could you explain how that is relevant to keeping one branch of government from becoming too powerful?

I know it was never confirmed. But tell me, honestly, do you really think Dubya respected the Constitution?

The question is, what is that Bush did that unconstitutional ??

How do you reconcile a "conservative" saying that the Consitution is "bad for the country"?

If true... Obviously he wants the argument and reasoning behind the statement and not just an empty statement.

It's in the OP. Trump said in an interview, the Constitution is archaic and "bad for the country"

Donald Trump has no respect for the Constitution. Gee, color me shocked.

Tres,

Do you think Trump knows that his political team, the Republicans, treasure and value the constitution? And that they often use it as a measuring stick for why they are correct and the Democrats are wrong? Does Trump know that Conservatives value the Constitution?

Factcheck.org calls BS on that by the way...

Obama DID call it a charter of negative liberties though. Were you outraged over that as well ?

How do you reconcile Trump saying this Fenton?

When he calls the US Constiution archaic, then you can ask me how I feel about it.

How did you feel about Obama calling it a charter of negative liberties ?
