For 10 years, the 82nd Avenue of Roses Business Association has kicked off the city of Portland’s annual Rose Festival with a family-friendly parade meant to attract crowds to its diverse neighborhood.

Set to march in the parade’s 67th spot this year was the Multnomah County Republican Party, a fact that so outraged two self-described antifascist groups in the deep blue Oregon city that they pledged to protest and disrupt the April 29 event.

Then came an anonymous and ominous email, according to parade organizers, that instructed them to cancel the GOP group’s registration — or else.

“You have seen how much power we have downtown and that the police cannot stop us from shutting down roads so please consider your decision wisely,” the anonymous email said, referring to the violent riots that hit Portland after the 2016 presidential election, reported the Oregonian. “This is nonnegotiable.”

The next violent organized terrorist organization will be these leftists.

They're ramping up their tactics with each event.

Sigh.

These ANTIFA douchebags are beyond disgraceful. Resorting to threats of violence (as well as committing violence) in order to get certain events shut down is downright unacceptable. You idiots have no right to prevent others from expressing their right to freedom of speech and assembly. And unfortunately, the fact that this event was cancelled, is probably just going to encourage this kind of terroristic behavior even further.

These so-called "anti-facists" are the facists.

Hear Hear!

Every time an event like this is cancelled because of threats it is a victory for those making the threats. Sooner or later something's got to give because the "victories" will do nothing but embolden these idiots. It won't be pretty, either.

It's like they are attempting to win the war by becoming exactly like the enemy, only worse. Yeah, THAT makes sense.

How do I know that parade organizers did not want the GOP to march and they themselves cancelled the parade?

Why doesn't the GOP sponsor their own Rose Parade and invite all that were affected.

This wasn't the DNC's parade, so why should the GOP have one? I don't follow.

It's the Pacific Northwest. You've got all sorts of whackos out there, ranging from these guys to people like the Order.

and one of those wackos sent an anonymous email to get a parade cancelled.

Which wacko?

Sounds like a terroristic threat...jail them when they show up.

By canceling the event they are only encouraging those anti-fascist scum to make more threats.More like terrorist seeing how they use violence and threats of violence to silence others.

Yes, but if they DO NOT cancel the event and something happens, the people hurt can sue the event organizers. "Ladies and Gentlemen of the jury, my client was viciously attacked and beaten, his long term health issues and PTSD from this attack are atrocious, unthinkable. While the perpetrators of the violence are being handled by the legal system, the fact remains the organizers of this parade knew of the danger, and they chose to allow a venue for this violence. They knew and did NOTHING to stop it..."

That's why they fold, not for fear of the violence, for fear of the lawsuits.

Those areas are generally called "blue states".

I'm up there a lot on business. Holy moly, there are some effed up people walking about.

Oh, there's plenty of nutjobs in red states as well. They just use different rhetoric.

Then came an anonymous and ominous email.....

And we know who sent this anonymous email and what their motivation was, how again?

Because it was directed at stopping conservatives from being in the parade.
The level of denial about these liberal antifa thugs is stunning. They are LIBERALS supporting liberal ideas. These are YOUR children (metaphorically speaking) and as their "parents", you are failing them. When will we start hearing liberal leaders denouncing them??

It's like they are attempting to win the war by becoming exactly like the enemy, only worse. Yeah, THAT makes sense.

When was the last time a large conservative group used violence or threats of violence to stop liberals from doing anything like this?? I'll bet that you have to go back decades to find an example...

The next time you're up here, take a drive over the mountains and see what the sane and beautiful side of the state looks like.
