U.S. military begins moving THAAD missile defense to South Korea site: media | Reuters

The U.S. military has started moving parts of the controversial THAAD anti-missile defense system into a planned deployment site in South Korea, Yonhap news agency reported on Wednesday, amid high tensions over North Korea's missile and nuclear programs.

The United States and South Korea have agreed to deploy THAAD in response to the threat of missile launches by North Korea but China says it will do little to deter the North while destabilizing the regional security balance.

Trailer trucks carrying parts of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system entered the site on what had been a golf course in the county of Seongju in a southern region of South Korea, Yonhap news agency and YTN television reported.

Well, if this doesn't scare the Norks and make them think twice, nothing will

Kim Jong-un is not a rational person. China was right to tell Trump to shut his pie hole and stop provoking NK.

Good.

People seem to forget that we are actually at war with North Korea already. Have been since June 25, 1950.

We have only been in a state of "peace negotiations" since the armistice (a temporary cessation of fighting by mutual consent; a truce) of July 27, 1953.

We have an entire Army Division, the Second Infantry Division, permanently stationed there in case the North decides talking is over and war starts up again.

Having been stationed there myself I am happy at any extra advanced defensive systems deployed to cover our troops.

IMO anyone who thinks we should dance to the tune played by whichever member of the Kim family dynasty happens to be in control of N.K. is a short-sighted ....:censored

They have been prancing and threatening for over 60 years. Only equal threat keeps them in line.

Odd no matter what past presidents have done, threatened, ignored, 'appeased'... the Jong's still prance around and make the mother of all threats every year...

When it comes to dancing to North Korea's tune, some might opine the tune is to provoke us to attack, like BushII did in Iraq. (do note even BushII knew better than to attack the biggest threat in the so-called Axis of E-Vile!)

Some simple minds confuse domestic for international politics. 'equal threat' can also lead to empty threat if it just sits there tweeting... do we really want to back our threats with military action?

I don't think Trump is that ignorant- he is proving to be the all time Bluffer in Chief... :peace

Kim Jong-un and his father are the ones who have been provoking for a very long time and we just let them get away with it to the point where they now have nuclear weapons and missiles to carry them. This is what you want?

What I want is for the issue of North Korea to be managed intelligently rather than by a boob who's going to saber-rattle his way into a war that no one is prepared for.

You mean like under Obama and other past presidents? That's why we are at where we are at today.

What we do next is what matters and the right answer is not war.

To you liberals the answer is never war. You would rather NK just send a nuke over with our name on it.

Well, maybe things might be different if Republicans and the military were ever able to demonstrate they're capable of effectively fighting one. They couldn't even handle Afghanistan, they bungled Iraq and North Korea actually has nuclear weapons in addition to biological and chemical weapons galore that Kim Jong Un would not be afraid to use. No, war is out of the question. Supporting a coup on the other hand is not.

Due to their extreme isolation and ruthlessness, a coup is extremely unlikely. He rules the country with an iron fist and anyone who is even suspected of any such thing is fed to a pack of wild hungry dogs, literally.

If you were stationed there then you should be aware of a reality that makes starting things up a little short-sited as well, that being the thousands of conventional artillery batteries aimed at Seoul, which a missile shield isn't going to do anything to stop.

Kim Jong Un is not a popular man. I don't think we'd have a difficult time finding participants if a legitimate opportunity for support presented itself.

We're making war preparations against a nuclear armed country that's allied with an even bigger nuclear armed country and which is right next door to the biggest nuclear armed adversary we have. And this is all happening under the leadership of a narcissistic liar with dementia.

I'm not sure we're gonna make it.

They would be fed to the dogs before it even got off the ground.

The troops accomplished every task they were given in both Afghanistan and Iraq. The enemy lost on the battlefield.

China doesn't want war to break out between the U.S. and North Korea. That would be very, very bad for business.

The whole purpose of this is to pressure China. Nothing more. The last two presidents took it in the shorts with China bringing down a P-3 and building islands. This one not so much...

Yes, China is actually the one moderate player here. They've known for some time now what kind of person Trump is, which is why they didn't completely lose their **** when Trump screwed up by taking Tsai Ing-wen's phone call. They know the indignant or threatening approach won't work with an irrational person, and I think they're genuinely afraid that they may not be able to convince the President of the country with the largest military and nuclear arsenal not to start what could blow up into WWIII in a New York minute.

As we've seen with Syria, the health care bill, the Muslim Ban and the wall, Trump is not able to control complex events. And whatever he may be thinking, he will have no control over whatever happens in the Korean peninsula.

It wouldn't matter who was president, China doesn't want war to break out between the U.S. and the Norks.

A man man testing nukes and shooting off rockets to see how far they can carry a warhead that produces mushroom clouds needs to be stopped.

Its too dangerous to allow him any further latitudes with weapons of mass destruction he's already threatened to use. The whole region knows it.

you would have the same wussy snowflake thing to say in 1941 with regards to Germany...and if u got your way u would be speaking German on your family would have been wiped out by Hitler

I'm certainly not prepared to explain to the Japanese why Tokyo is a radioactive ruin just because the Great Orange One wanted to pound his chest. But by all means, we can parachute you over Pyongyang. You can move to the front of the line since you're itching for a war.
