White House backtracks after Trump opens the door to delaying funding for border wall

Re: White House backtracks after Trump opens the door to delaying funding for border

Nobody watched Obama's first 90 days like this.

Good God, it's beyond absurd.

Illegal immigration is WAY down. The economy is soaring, Gorsuch is confirmed, the military has its morale back, real people with real lives are feeling optimistic for the first time in forever.

And NOBODY listens to the media anymore about anything.

I was cynical about him, but so far, I'm impressed.

That wall will have it's day, but weak-minded liberal losers are claiming victory because he didn't get it done in three months. LOL

Republicans own the Presidency.
Republicans own the House.
Republicans own the Senate.

Spin this any way you like, but Republicans are watching Trump closely too.

But the sea level will a rise whole bunch unless we act very soon. ;)

I'm on my way down to my slip to adjust my lines on the boat as we speak.

Re: White House backtracks after Trump opens the door to delaying funding for border

he didn't back track. there are more than one way to get it done, however risking not passing a budget is a bigger threat.
it is called picking and choosing your battles.

and he didn't almost blow up the government geez. such drama is un-needed.

Until now, Trump demanded it as part of a CR to fund the government. Both Democrats and Republicans in the House were not going to vote for it if it was inserted into the CR. As a result, the government would have shut down on Friday. What don't you understand about that?

Oh, you're a science denier. It's good when people reveal themselves to be Birthers, Truthers, science-deniers and anti-vaxxers. That lets me know how to approach them in the future.

Translation - When it comes to the border wall, Donald Trump has surrendered. Don't expect it to be built. Meanwhile congress is expected to keep the government funded, and there will be no government shutdown this weekend... Just as long as Trump keeps his nose out of their business. He almost blew up the government. We don't need more of that.

He hasn't surrendered at all or that would be so very out of character for him. He is a deal maker meaning that he trades off something he wants for something he wants more, and that is what he has done here to get everybody on board to keep from shutting the government down. He is no partisan so he has no interest in thwarting the Democrats just to say he did. But he doesn't give up easily, most especially on a signature issue of his campaign. IMO he'll be back to fight that battle again.

Re: White House backtracks after Trump opens the door to delaying funding for border

Dogging is dogging. To downplay one and not the other is just hypocrisy.

No, make a false comparison is just not observing factual reality.

NOTE: Liberals can be anti-science also. Example: Jill Stein.

Re: White House backtracks after Trump opens the door to delaying funding for border

Zing!!!!!!!!!!!!... and off we go in a completely different direction.

Different direction? No, you complained about only including media so I included more.

I didn't apply a political orientation to conspiracy theorists. Out of curiosity, what's Jill Stein's "thing?"

What part didn't you understand about what I posted.?

Re: White House backtracks after Trump opens the door to delaying funding for border

I for one welcome the fact that Trump is a useless blowhard.

The best case scenario of his presidency was that he (and a republican congress) would be so inept that they would be unable to make any meaningful change. So far, (beyond the damage to America's global reputation) that seems to be mostly the case.

At this point, I'm less concerned about telling Trump supporters how dumb they are for being duped, and more concerned with the state of the country. For the most part, checks and balances have done their job.

Carry on, Trumpkins.

Re: White House backtracks after Trump opens the door to delaying funding for border

I don't deny that, however, the I will caveat that Trump really doesn't matter. Any R sitting in the WH would have gotten much the same. Hell, I hear people saying, all the time, something like, "Trump scares them but they are terrified of Pence." That kinda just proves the point.

Fair enough, the Liberal slanted wing of the media does have a bigger mouthpiece for sure. Personally, I'd take Pence over Trump any day of the week.

The same claim would be made of only select Reps, not all of them. Pence is extreme, even for Reps. So, no, it's not "any" R.

Re: White House backtracks after Trump opens the door to delaying funding for border

Errr...no. Obama was not watch like this at all. If anything the media carried his water for him, constantly, and couldn't get over the thrill they had run up their collective legs. This is an entirely different thing than whether Trump is good or bad. Just pointing out the absurd comparison.

You realize that there is a right wing media, right? And they'd labeled Obama a failure before he even took office, when they weren't alleging he wasn't even eligible for office.

And part of the difference in the tone is Trump has record levels of disapproval, really got almost nothing on his 100-day contract done, and has polarized the country. Obama on the other hand was popular and even with the GOP pledged to obstruct everything, still managed a productive first 100 days.

Pence is extreme? Seems fairly normal to me.

Yes, there is a right-wing media. It's dwarfed by the left-wing conglomerates and the left has been complaining ever since they lost their monopoly.

Re: White House backtracks after Trump opens the door to delaying funding for border

You're right, no one watched Obama's first 90 days like this. They watched his entire 8 years like this... and still do.

But you do make a good point... *sniff*, life is so unfair.

Obama got an 8-year honeymoon from the media. Never has ass been kissed so completely and so adoringly in the history of mankind.

LOL...guess again...https://www.frbatlanta.org/cqer/research/gdpnow.aspx?panel=1

There is so many things wrong with that phrase, I do not even know where to begin.

Bottom line...you are apparently living in a Trumpbot dream world.

Good day.

I know all that makes you feel good, but it's entirely BS.

What I responded to in your post was your assertion of "nobody". All-inclusive, not just the media. You're narrowing it to the media later in the post wasn't a clarification, it was just another independent point.

Yep, and this "wall" keeps his drain-the-swamp message alive and well.

Well Dana, he was headed for a losing situation. CR needs to go through even though demos like you are doing everything you can to obstruct it...my guess is the order of things is so, HC, Taxes, then the border barrier...in that order.

Trump is erratic, for sure a result of his NPD. Pres Pence sounds very reassuring about now.

That's actually not relevant to your point or mine, even if true, and I don't concede that it is true.

I love how the GOP controls the House, Senate and WH and already right wingers are laying the foundation to blame DEMOCRATS for any failure to pass a CR. How about we first see the GOP House pass a budget or CR first, then a filibuster in the Senate before you start blaming the minority party for any failure?
