Bernie Sanders Condemns Threats Against Ann Coulter Speech At Berkeley

Only Sanders spoke those words today. Try and stay focused on 2017 .

I am a Zen Socialist, thus one who is sure that we are all interconnected....only sometimes is taking truth out of context a good idea.

The context here is that very very few of the elite can be counted on to do the right thing if the right thing is in the way of what they want.

Bernie often does the right thing, and notices things that others dont, often others whom are found with long records of putting Bernie down, dismissing Bernie, and not being fair to....wait for it......Bernie......Bernie does what these folks cant.

Or Wont.

Note: I have largely forgiven Bernie for not believing in himself enough to think that he was on the side of strong truth enough to beat Clinton Corp, and thus did not try to win till it was too late to get it done....that he did not believe in us.

In the city of the blind the one eyed man is king.

Most Democrats are indeed afraid to let people speak. The DNC is about to crush Bernie for opposing the key constituents of the DNC: terrorists.

I can't argue with ignorance.

I may very well have voted for Bernie. yay for him for standing up against the fascists who would violently try to take away a persons freedom of speech!

I was prepared to vote for Bernie but the DNC fix was in.

I do like him more than most democrats.

yeah, well the fix was the second reason I didn't vote for the Democratic ticket...

the first, of course, was Hillary. ::shudder::

Threats of violence are not the right way to stop a person from speaking in a liberal democracy. Bernie is right. However, in a liberal democracy, I do think its important to not give people large public platforms if debating their views involves segments of the population having to prove their own humanity. Coulter is so anti-liberal she advocates for women to lose the right to vote and for assasination. She revises history to say liberals supported Nazis and like other hyperpartisans blames literally every evil on liberals, denies any liberal man his manhood, and says only women who are married and following their husbands advise vote "correctly". She's literally about as worthy of a speech at Berkley as the top 10 worst posters on DP. I don't think that if Berkley decides to give her a platform anyone should threaten violence to stop her, but just like I wouldn't expect anyone to have to debate a communist advocating for revolutionary violence to cleanse the population of inequality or a holocaust denier or a 9/11 truther, I don't think there's any value in debating Ann Coulter. You cannot debate totally fabricated Bull****. She should be ignored. Not silenced, but ignored.

They might, but with antifa and bamn being shielded by the mayor of berkely, who is a member of bamn, and many other cities ignoring them, and many liberals refusing to condemn their actions, bernie might make some waves for the good fight.

He is still respected by much of the left, and he is really the first high profile person on the left to condemn the actions of antifa, if he even gets 5% of liberals to agree it is a step in the right direction. Antifa works much like the kkk, hooded and they function because society rfuses to condemn them and instead downplays their actions, the kkk however went from being a terrorist organization protected by local govts to a small group that people laugh at by people who stopped supporting their cause and stopped protecting them.

Credit to Bernie for putting a voice on the left to Anti-Antifa.

On a side note, I got a good laugh yesterday watching a video of an Antifa guy getting his ski mask ripped off, and when he tried to disappear into the crowd of retreating Antifa they mistook him for a Trump supporter... he was then maced by one Antifa and clobbered over the head with a skateboard by another. Oh, karma...

I don't agree with much of what Bernie wants...but I like his character a TON more than just about anyone else in Congress...or the WH.

Remember the 60's?

Remember how the 60s ended?

One of the reasons the insane political upheaval of the 60s came to an end is because it eventually hit a point where the average American was willing to admit it went to far.

One of the more iconic images of the political excesses of the 60s and early 70s that drove the pendulum the other way was the abysmal treatment of American servicemen and women returning from Vietnam by the raging protestors.

Antifa is approaching that point where Americans of all political persuasions are starting to agree that Antifa has gone too far.

He would screw up the country with the best of intentions.

Yeah they had that and the embarassment in georgia, or alabama, i forget which, which had a law against masked protestors. It was a law designed originally to keep the kkk from using masks to conceal the identity of criminals, and they were perty mad when the local police enforced the law and made them remove their masks.

Good for Bernie. He's still a crackpot, but he got this right.
