Key lawmakers balk at Donald Trump’s wall request

true but that would take place on a lower level and not on a national level, which is the most dangerous.

the the states are supposed to be the guardian of the constitution, and the keepers of federalism, how is that supposed to take place it they have no interest [which was taken away] to protect in government

Do you agree with the original constitution on everything ?

Clinton won the CDs represented by both Hurd and McSally. Neither are willing to throw away their career on trump's idiocy .

Exactly.

The congress only cares about itself instead of the country

I wont blame trump because the republican congress failed to deliver

trump and his super PAC 45 ran dishonest ads against my GOP congressman about trumpdoesn'tcare for the last two weeks.

trump's pissed off both sides of the GOP civil war and it's every person for themselves .

And it turns out that the republican congress is even more corrupt than we knew.

At best all you can do is punish the country just to make trump look bad

Nope I can and do hold trump accountable for all his lies and ego driven rhetoric. He is a liar as well as his supporters.

Currently, we only have a GOP house applying the Hastert rule and unwilling to try to get DEM votes. If they ever pass anything, they still have to deal with the senate. It's a lot easier being obstructors, isn't it ?

Its a free country

You can blame trump if you want to

yes, i do because the states created the constitution, which created the federal government and its structure...by the way i know were you are going, but go ahead and try it

Which amendments don't you agree with ?

Ryan does not have to include the democrats but he will have to humble himself to compromise with his fellow republicans

The worse trump does on domestic policy, the more dangerous he becomes on foreign policy .

i agree with the 14th however it being used improperly against people and business.

repeal the 16th 17th, and get rid of the....... federal reserve act[federal law]

this would turn the country around over night and return power to the people, the states, and make the union strong again

Ryan does not have to include the democrats

As long as he can get a majority of the majority he can ignore Demicrats.

but he will have to humble himself to compromise with his fellow republicans

It'll be sweet for DEMs to make a strong run at Mulvaney's SC-5 beginning with the top two primary on 5/2 .

Can I count you as a W.J. Bryan/T. Roosevelt progress---ive ?

progressives are for national government and that government involved in people lives.

"mixed government" which makes limited government is the only good and stable government, democracy is a unstable and evil form of government which leads to rights violation and the destruction of federalism.

You know, I really don't give a **** about who has to pay for the wall. I think some are missing the forest for the trees.

The fact of the matter is that the Southern border needs to be secured, and a physically imposing wall with additional electronic surveillance would do exactly that.
If I'm not mistaken, US border patrol has in fact apprehended Islamic terrorists illegally entering the country across this border already.

Do we need yet another 9/11 to steel our resolve and our vigilance? Too steel our common sense?

A wall on the border with Mexico wouldn't have prevented 9/11.

Not saying that it would have.

But since the Southern Border seems to be the chosen avenue of illegal entrance for those with apparently similar aims, it might very well be.

Thats a sztrange reply to that quote

I'm guessing most members of Congress have looked at a map, and seen because of the Gulf of Mexico that a wall is completely pointless and a huge waste of money. Especially because the current POTUS budget reduces funding to the Coast Guard. lol.. Unless the CG is going to HEAVILY patrol the Gulf a wall is pointless.

But then knowing Trump I'm pretty sure he's never looked at a map, and if he did wouldn't understand what he's looking at.

If it is such a huge waste of money and wouldn't do anything, why are Pelosi and Schumer, etc, calling the wall immoral? How could it be immoral if the left thinks it won't even work? Why is Mexico against the wall if it won't work?

The tragedy of all this is that Trump supporters will still back him up regardless. If Trump says the moon is made of cheese, they will believe him.

Opposite is also true. The Trump haters will hate, no matter what. Their moon is also made of cheese.

As highlighted by the pro-science march yesterday Trump and Company do not use, are not interested in, do not want research and evidenced based data. That certainly applies to the building a wall. Trump and his followers are not interested in building a wall because studies have determined it to be the best solution. In fact as with all Trump brain farts even the problem is not clearly defined.

Earlier in the thread a Trumper said that the wall will stop tens of millions of illegals coming into the US. Where is the data that supports such a belief? And what does the research say about the downside of building a wall?

Trump's Wall would be a monument to Trump's monumental narcissism, bigotry and stupidity.

GOPs AZ-2 McSally and TX-23 Hurd both feel the winds of change, as their CDs were won by Clinton, and Hurd only won by 1.3%. NM-2 Pearce won handily but Clinton was much closer in his CD.

The more I dig on elections, the more overwhelming it gets. Once you make a grass roots donation, you get bombed with e-mails. dailykos is doing a great job on data collection, data mining and fund-raising.

The unity tour has exposed why competing in red states like NE will be tough, such as how abortion came up. People can be like Biden in private but support the law in public, as with the Omaha Mayor, if he goes there. Both parties have their problems with single issue purity tests.

Bernie is still reluctant to call himself a Democrat or release his e-mail list. He's not over last year yet and neither are many of his supporters. Yet look at the more pragmatic moderate millenial Ossoff in GA who Bernie questioned as not being progressive enough. How does that help?

GOPs have their problems governing. DEMs have their own problems coming back together .

Not if you know how one week affects another. Let's see how trump stumbles through week 14 .

Except Trump assured his supporters that he was some great deal maker.

well since the republicans had no power to get any legislation thru for 8 years , wouldn't you think they would be eager to work with trump getting as much through as possible

It is more important to get he party back from Trump, and to try to make sure that this never happens again.

When was the last time these people put the nation first?

I do so love your optimism.
