The 50-year-old Tennessee man accused of kidnapping his 15-year-old former student was arrested in Northern California — and the teenage girl was recovered safely after she was missing for more than a month, authorities said Thursday.

Tad Cummins, a former high school teacher in rural Tennessee, was nabbed in California after disappearing with Elizabeth Thomas on March 13, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said in a post on Twitter. The TBI said Thomas was recovered safely.

The two were discovered Thursday morning "at a commune" in Cecilville, California, the TBI later said in a statement. Siskiyou County authorities first discovered the Nissan Rogue used by Cummins early Thursday, and then later located the pair, according to the statement.

Looks like they finally got the creep. Hopefully this manipulative child predator gets locked up for a good while. I can't imagine how the girl's doing; what her state of mind is like at the moment.

My understanding was that her home life was ****. Hopefully, she won't be going "home".
 
I'm so glad that she was found safe. What a sordid story this was. So many lives ruined, including his family's. I hear his wife filed for divorce in March.

Send him to jail and let his fellow inmates neuter him.
 
There will now commence a lot of coaching connected to bribes to get her to say bad things about the guy...which almost always work, eventually. She will be kept away from the media till she is ready to say the "right" things. We cant have our victims contradicting victim culture, Oh No.

She is a victim. She's 15. He's 50.
 
If you go willingly is it still kidnapping? Not defending his actions (he crossed boundaries with a student and underage girl regardless of her consent) but am curious how it can be called kidnapping if she was a willing participant.

The law does not allow her the right to consent.

Which makes him a criminal.

What the girl wanted and did is irrelevant.

We will never get the facts if they run counter to victim culture ideology, and they likely do at least in part given what we do know.

The law for instance is not interested in almost all the facts, all except the ones that give us an excuse to beat the abuser harder.

Yes, it is still kidnapping. She is a minor, and because of that it doesn't matter if she went with him willingly or not.

Do you know why your parents told you as a child not to take candy from strangers? Kids of all ages tend to listen to any source of authority really easy when they're alone.

Hell, one of the Duggar kids got to touch his teenage sisters by supposedly telling them they were 'playing doctor'.

Either they're retarded, or he's really good at making it look like he's playing doctor.

I'm more partial to the idea that people tend to be pretty stupid until they're around 18-19 and even then...

It really doesnt matter if she says the "right things" or not. She's15, he is 50. There is no way that is considered anything but abuse.

Since she is underage, even if she went "voluntarily" she was not legally able to consent. So, she is a victim, even if it was all her idea.
