It is very likely other governments knew where our carrier group actually is. Most are our allies and understand the importance of not giving away the position of our carrier group. The list of N. Korea's allies is very short and may no longer include China who is fed up with their nonsense. So the likely hood that our enemy N. Korea knew is very low and more than likely did not know. That was until our stupid media shouted out to the world were our carrier group was.

The fact is you have know idea what other defense and offence capabilities are currently in place and ready to strike N. Korea. We have missile submarines both nuclear and tactical, stealth war ships that are not part of the carrier group, stealth bombers that can be anywhere at any time, and military bases in the region with missile, fighter jets, and fighter bomber capabilities within striking range of N. Korea. Our carrier group is only an addition to what may or may not already be deployed. So the importance of how soon they arrive is irrelevant especially if our enemy does not know that they are not already there. You have no knowledge of any of this unless you are claiming to be in the know of what military is deployed right now.

Trump overspoke about the movements of the "armada", made it seem like they were on the way when they were headed in the other direction. It's caused concern within our allies and mocking among our enemies. That's it, that's the fact. he should have checked his mouth, been far more diplomatic; but we all know that ain't Donald's thing. That's it, those are the facts. It came out that the bravado was ill-timed, and we lost face because of it.

Please save it for those that are clueless in military strategy. Our leaders and generals have used misinformation to gain a military advantage since the revolutionary war. Welcome to reality. That carrier group may still be headed somewhere else for all we know. A completely different strategy may already be in place to achieve the element of surprise. The carrier group could be nothing more than a ploy to keep the enemy looking in the wrong place. That is how you win wars not by announcing to the enemy when, where, and what your military plans are .

With radar and surveillance the element of surprise for a carrier group is impossible. Any more excuses for the Dons latest gaff?

It's impossible to believe that any country that poses a threat to a carrier group, and a military need to know where it is, doesn't know pretty much exactly where that group is at any given day, likely in/approaching real time. There are too many ships, planes, and satellites to keep that secret.

In the times of war or military operations such as this where they are and where they are reported to be can be 2 completely different places. The last thing we need when this is being done is our media shouting out to the world telling them where they have found them.

So let me get this right... You think that the Naval reports, the pictures, the joint exercises with Australia, etc. are all part of an elaborate ruse to make our enemies think our carrier group is not there when we said it was heading there, but it is actually there, but we want everyone including our allies to not know whether it is really there? Wtf kind of nutty mental gymnastics are these? Don't you think it's more likely that our president who has a history of shooting off his mouth and saying wrong things has once again said wrong things. Or do you honestly believe this is all part of Trump's brilliant plan to deceive our enemies and allies by making ourselves look like idiots?

N. Korea has very limited surveillance capabilities. Radar is limited as well. That is one of the major problems they will have to overcome to be able to launch a long range missile with any degree of accuracy. It takes either a lot of satellites or military installations all along the path of the missile to make course corrections to keep it on target. Otherwise a missile meant for LA could hit the middle of Mexico or fall short in the pacific. It is not like shooting a rifle where you line up your sights and fire. They already have the capabilities to strike our allies on their border so the carrier group would only be a retaliatory operation not preventive. Any preventative measures are either in place or will be too late to stop the attack.

I dunno he got new trade deals going on with China and even got China to admonish NK like a pet. "Dont do anything irreversible if america comes through!" I assume NK is ****ting its pants right now scared that China and US may become friends.

That's great and everything but it does not explain why trump did not know that his aircraft carrier was in a different location and that by making his bluff he showed her had no effective grasp of millitary matters
 
Trump says he doesn't telegraph his moves. But it appears here that he has telegraphed his moves a whole two weeks in advance because he wanted to answer a question with a tough answer... Seriously this is our worst nightmare that our CIC is a blathering idiot that doesn't think before he speaks.
