It'll be ignored because it's partisan hackery to deflect from what else we were told. The President told us, explicitly: "I don't want to talk about it. We are sending an armada, very powerful. We have submarines, very powerful, far more powerful than the aircraft carrier, that I can tell you." in response to the question: "What we are doing right now in terms of North Korea?". Mattis said that the Carl Vinson “on her way up there". Spicer said, "And when you unpack it through that lens and the fact that the USS Carl Vinson is sort of steaming out toward the Sea of Japan". But a photo from roughly a week later, shows that it wasn't. We also received this statement: "Further confusion was added when Secretary of Defense James Mattis told reporters last week that the exercises had been canceled.", which was explained as: "Multiple US defense officials told CNN that Mattis had inadvertently misspoke and that it was a port visit in Australia that was canceled".
Like I said, it will be ignored because it doesn't address the problem people actually have, which is that the White House doesn't know what's happening or is deliberately not being truthful. Military officials clarifying to CNN doesn't change the fact Trump and his staff did not paint a clear picture of what's actually happening.
Perhaps it was pure rhetoric at the time. Regardless, global placement of weapons systems in not immediate.
