It's Berkeley. As far back as I can remember, all the radical groups headquarter there, and apparently the city is quite tolerant of them. The rest of the state, not so much.

Some Canadian protests have been experiencing this too. About 5 years ago they unmasked one of these provocateurs at a Montreal protest, and it later turned out that he was a member of the RCMP (Canada's equivalent of the FBI). The government creates laws which say that any violence in a protest = the entire protest gets shut down. In my opinion this is a horribly corrupt approach. If only a handful of people are causing violence, then you should do everything necessary to detain them. You don't start tear gassing everybody.

I just don't understand why some simply can't allow peaceful assembly to happen.

I've read that neither group filed for a permit. But even if both groups had, I think this would have happened.

I don't really care about news like this. I am way more concerned with our international relations, the fact that we are spending millions to drop bombs, North Korea, Russia, etc.

Seriously, we have laws. Rioters of all races and colors should be punished. At the end of the day, the average American isn't going to miss a minute of sleep over this.

Yeah, right. Right as the liberal / progressives are suppressing the first amendment rights of others that have opinions and positions that differ from their own (as we have witnessed, and continue to witness - even on the Berkley campus, on college campuses all across the nation).

Go ply that somewhere else, to some other sucker. I'm not buying your line of crap.

Being 'triggered' is little more than an excuse for NOT being an adult and NOT controlling yourself.
A lame excuse for everything the follows the start of that sentence, and any sentence that follows.

Oh I see, this thread serves a whinefest about liberals. Again, the average American isn't going to loose any sleep over this. What a load of bull**** to read though some of these comments. Have any of you actually lost sleep because of Trump's immigration policies, his travel ban, or his international relation management? I would say no, most of you haven't. In fact, I would say a lot of you have acted completely unconcerned and dismissive towards people actually affected.

That the American Taliban would resort to violence against the tree huggers on the Berkeley campus is much more plausible than vice versa. Obviously the flag waving racist, homophobic, xenophobic, sexist bigots who cling to their god, guns and antipathy are the fascists. Duh.

Whiney Righties seem to have the thinnest skin. So, yes I can see them being triggered over a few words like understanding and no quarter.

I am not condoning violence. I am pointing out what I see. A bunch of people taking a self righteous position towards a group doing something wrong, and at the same time forgetting they are not on the side of every Americans rights.

Anybody who wants a travel ban. Anybody who wants a muslim registry. Anybody who wants to prevent future immigration of muslim people to the US, is a far worse of a human being than the people in the OP.

The anti-Trump folks counter-protested. Had they gone somewhere else, or stayed home there wouldn't have been any trouble. Instead, they showed up looking for trouble.

Never said they never start anything. Just that it is common place for Trump rallies to be attacked. This has been growing as a norm for about 2 years now.
