Trump demands gold‑plated welcome (in London)

Why should they comment? Anything they say is just ammunition for liberals to twist, and distort....For example, you cite the HuffPo, and I want you to take a look at the headline and think about it for a minute....We have established that the UK offers this to any, I'll say it again, ANY head of state visiting England....We have also documented that other heads of state have taken them up on the ride....So, why shouldn't President Trump? Because you don't like him? Sorry, suck it up buttercup....

I admire that Obama chose to forgo the ostentatiousness and expense. If Trump decides to do that I'll admire that as well - Buttercup.

Oh yeah....Well, people are different....England offers a pretty cool carriage ride, and the WH says sure...Yep, that makes him the worst person in the world right? LOL....So, hey I know, let's all get out there and misrepresent as much as we can about it, to make Trump look bad....But, it's all just solid reporting right?

Low security, wide open snipers paradise. I thought you hate Trumpers would be overjoyed.

Not hate. Lack of admiration. And no - I don't want the president exposed to harm. Nice try, though.

Ive spent about 10 years abroad, 3 of them in England. I question the story as presented because nothing in anything presented states Trump 'demanded' a carriage ride and it sounds like the petty fake news bull**** the leftists have been spewing since the election.

Lol "fake news"

President Trump Demands Gold?Plated Welcome in London?

Great conclusion-desirability-based reasoning on display.

Obama seemed to actively campaign to stop the Brexit.

Some think he did various things that were a snub to the Brits.

https://heatst.com/politics/8-ways-obama-damaged-the-us-uk-special-relationship/

So, you believe that President Obama "seemed to actively campaign"? You do know that "seemed' as a descriptive term does not really go with "actively" - or maybe you don't quite understand the different connotations of the two words. I can only go by what I read here in making my judgements.

Yes, and some think he wasn't born in America and that he is a "secret Muslim" who hates all Western culture but then I think that such thoughts have little rational support - just my opinion.

Item #1 on the list of Obama actions seen as "a snub to the Brits" is a lie but one which far too many believe to be true. When a website opens a page of accusations with an easily debunked lie, one should not depend upon said webpage to add much value in political discussions

And you don't believe that the very same ridiculous BS is going on right now against Trump? Hell, it's worse because the MSM is in on it....

HM only conducts 2 official State Visits as host yearly, this would include the dog and pony show, carriages, State Dinner, and a night at either her London residence, or Windsor. The Queens calendar is done 6 months in advance, State visits a year in advance. A leader only gets one visit with all the bells and whistles, this years calendar has been completed. I know enough about HM to hazard a guess on her thoughts on Trump, I should think she would have very little in common with the Liar in Chief. Sorry Don, if you ask the Brits real nicely, perhaps you can have the ego stroking penciled into the palaces diary for next year.

I have to wonder if this "source" is the same one they cite in all the other stories
that try to damage Trump? If not the same probably some relative who wants to throw
a bit of mud at Trump.

Donny does enough on his own to prove he an ass clown, no help from the press needed.

Guess who took the Gold coach ride? It is offered to a head of state if they would like to use it.
I don't think this story is correct with the"demands" line. It's offered as a normal function.

Chinese president Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan rode in the the Diamond Jubilee State Coach (Gold coach) as they made the journey along crowd-lined Mall towards the palace.

And so did Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto. When a head of state is in country for a state banquet the coach is normal procedure.

Yet another EMO rant over nothing. you would think that these people would get tired of egg being all over their face.

I would, too! You only get to be The President of The United States, once.

Kinda what I was thinking? If it is the expectation and Obama broke with tradition...why is this a story when the next president opts for the tradition again? Seems silly.

Oh wait. We need to condemn trump at all costs.

Politico also seems to think that Obama campaigned against Brexit as he made a trip to Britain which included his attempt to support the Remain Campaign.

Regarding the various snubs to Britain, how many sources would you like?

Theresa May SNUBBED by Obama as world leaders call to congratulate PM | UK | News | Express.co.uk

Obama snubs Britain and cozies up to the French, saying picking a best ally would be like picking a 'favorite' daughter | Daily Mail Online

Farage is the former leader of UKIP, a hard right racist political group. Wouldn't expect him to say anything nice about President Obama or to speak the truth.

The three papers providing 'support' for your "snub" claim are all conservative media outlets, although if one takes a couple minutes to go thru their websites, some of their photos would not be seen as acceptable by American conservatives.

The EXPRESS headline is contradicted by stories in American and British media published later on 14 July 2016 - that whole 5 hours time difference thing
Obama calls new UK Prime Minister Theresa Mayhttp://thehill.com/homenews/administration/287741-obama-calls-new-uk-prime-minister-theresa-may
President Obama calls new Prime Minister Theresa May to congratulate her

The "snubs" by Obama are labeled such by reliably right wing papers; media with the same level of trustworthiness as Breitbart and World Nut Daily owing to their unrelenting support of 'conservative' causes.

The Donald's ego will cost the Brits a 'few' pennies, this autumn

The Queen's royal carriage... this is so funny. He is the president of the US. He is not a king.

Also, he expects the British people to accept him and happily wave like he is their royal. He is in a foreign country! I mean, really... wtf.

Nelson Mandela did it. Are you going hold him to the same standard?

All I know is I would pay good money to see him pelted with rotten tomatoes. Perhaps a catapult loaded some discrete distance away with a few bushels of them?

He is also in a foreign country. Why does he expect all the people to react like they love him?

I don't know that Trump has "insisted" on anything. This article is written in a somewhat vague manner, it's likely he requested the carriage and the media is using wording to make it look like he's demanding it.

We know the carriage is used for state visits of other world leaders. I gotta say I would think riding the carriage would be pretty cool. I think the Times is blowing this all out of proportion though

You can easily get a carriage ride. We offer them downtown where I live. I have seen carriage rides in other cities too. I wouldn't be surprised if Trump has already experienced one or more already.
