WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump has scrapped the tax plan he campaigned on and is going back to the drawing board in a search for Republican consensus behind legislation to overhaul the U.S. tax system.
The administration's first attempt to write legislation is in its early stages and the White House has kept much of it under wraps. But it has already sprouted the consideration of a series of unorthodox proposals including a drastic cut to the payroll tax, aimed at appealing to Democrats.
If there is a government shutdown in August, it won't be because Republicans and Democrats couldn't come to an agreement. It will be because Republicans and Republicans couldn't come to an agreement. Trump gave a little to the Democratic side of the aisle in this budget, and that has some Republicans up in arms.
And the clown car continues it's journey to the great scrapheap that all cars eventually end up in..... Only much faster. This is not an ordinary clown car. It's a vintage '70's Ford Pinto. Yup...... Kablooey!!
