Rice claim on Syria chemical weapons gets 'four Pinocchios'[W:15]

Re: Rice claim on Syria chemical weapons gets 'four Pinocchios'

Oh FFS.... Get a real source before you start posting such idiotic crackpot conspiracy theories. Or at least save it for the conspiracy theory forum.

So Pulitzer Prize- Winning Journalist Seymour Hersh is a "crackpot conspiracy theorist." Wow who knew?

Progressives screaming "Conspiracy Theory" on something like this is no different than when they scream "Racism" over a subject that has nothing to do with race, or when they call any opinion they disagree with "Hate Speech."

You are claiming "Conspiracy Theory" because you are unable to argue the point. Until you can produce some contrary information or argument: Go away and let the adults debate.

this article is consistent with rice's statements about the disposition of syria's chemical weapons:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Destruction_of_Syria's_chemical_weapons

Your Wiki article doesn't mention Rice at all. The question is did Rice lie. The answer is yes.

Susan's statement in January:

Rice’s claim, however, was more recent. In January, she told NPR that the Obama administration was able to “find a solution” on Syria that didn’t require the use of force – and still dealt with the chemical weapons threat, using diplomacy.

“We were able to get the Syrian government to voluntarily and verifiably give up its chemical weapons stockpile,” she claimed.

Earlier on she made essentially the same claim, but sometimes included the adjective known weapons. Susan, Barack and Kerry knew better.

Come on folks...don't pile on poor little old Rice. The fact is...Democrats from Obama, people in his administration, in Congress on down to the talking heads on the Mainstream Media ALL made a big deal about 100% of Syria's chemical weapons being gone.

Re: Rice claim on Syria chemical weapons gets 'four Pinocchios'

I see. So you have no reason to think she was lying over Syria, and you just want to rehash Benghazi. Got it.

Just pointing out the obvious. Rice has been to known to lie for the benefit of the Obama regime in the past. She is lying now.

I have every reason to believe she is lying over Syria. Susan has been making the statement that Syria has given up all their chemical weapons since 2013. There has been reason to believe they hadn't. Maybes aside, the statement has not been true. Then, or now.

article did not need to reference rice
it explained the procedure followed to eliminate syria's chemical arms and infrastructure required to replenish them

“We were able to get the Syrian government to voluntarily and verifiably give up its chemical weapons stockpile,” she claimed.

Ok... Your links by line says "By IBW" which is the sites initials instead of the author. Then when you scroll to the bottom of the story it hints that the writer is some guy called Paul Joseph Watson from prisonplanet. So whose wrong, you or that Alex Jones nutjob on that site?

I know that's what she said. Rice made several other similar statements at various times over the past 3+ years. That was false. Obviously they didn't give them all up.

I believe it was Kerry who used the 100% figure. Susan at least once used the disclaimer KNOWN chemical weapons.

Did she lie? And if you truly believe that to be the case...didnt all these people?
“I am absolutely convinced that there are weapons…I saw evidence back in 1998 when we would see the inspectors being barred from gaining entry into a warehouse for three hours with trucks rolling up and then moving those trucks out.” — Clinton’s Secretary of Defense William Cohen in April of 2003
“In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including Al Qaeda members, though there is apparently no evidence of his involvement in the terrible events of September 11, 2001. It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons. Should he succeed in that endeavor, he could alter the political and security landscape of the Middle East, which as we know all too well affects American security.” — Hillary Clinton, October 10, 2002
“Saddam Hussein’s regime represents a grave threat to America and our allies, including our vital ally, Israel. For more than two decades, Saddam Hussein has sought weapons of mass destruction through every available means. We know that he has chemical and biological weapons. He has already used them against his neighbors and his own people, and is trying to build more. We know that he is doing everything he can to build nuclear weapons, and we know that each day he gets closer to achieving that goal.” — John Edwards, Oct 10, 2002
“Iraq made commitments after the Gulf War to completely dismantle all weapons of mass destruction, and unfortunately, Iraq has not lived up to its agreement.” — Barbara Boxer, November 8, 2002
“The last UN weapons inspectors left Iraq in October of 1998. We are confident that Saddam Hussein retained some stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons, and that he has since embarked on a crash course to build up his chemical and biological warfare capability. Intelligence reports also indicate that he is seeking nuclear weapons, but has not yet achieved nuclear capability.” — Robert Byrd, October 2002

Werent those rather prominent democrats on security councils and senate panels during both the Clinton and Bush presidencies?

Oh...and didnt the UN document numerous chemical stockpiles after the 1st Gulf War that were never found or accounted for?

And how does any commentary on Iraqs WMDs have ANY bearing on Susan Rice lying about a terrorist attack in Benghazi or about the disposition of Syria's weapons, or more recently, about having any knowledge at all of unmasking recording participants

Re: Rice claim on Syria chemical weapons gets 'four Pinocchios'

No culpability for Russia here, I see. Shocker.

Is it known how Syria got that gas, yet?

Nobody's sayin that I can see. They've been hiding stuff, but since, what, Thursday night? They may not hurl anymore gas and if Putin is smart he'll beat Assad's ass over it.

Rice is a known professional liar, so there's nothing new here. This the typical symbolism over substance foreign policy we saw the last 8 years.

Gee, let's see. The Commander in Chief has lied over 300 times since being sworn in. He has been caught outright in hundreds more and has flip-flopped over a dozen times on whether he's met Putin whom he "admires very, very deeply"

and YOU are concerned about Susan Rice.

No wonder Americans elected a ****ing moron

You can list those 300 hundred lies?

Not that I actually expect everyone to type all of this out every time, but in our defense it's actually 25% of Americans of voting age that elected a ****ing moron.

Yeah, you can, apdst!

Reddit, WaPo, BuzzFeed, PolitiFact and numerous sites dedicated to tracking them.

You're welcome!

But it did help. It told the real story, not Fox New BS.

It might, but nothing there to exonerate her. She's a lying sack of ****.

I read that, didn't help her much.

Yeah, actually it did. The Fox article cherry picked her comment to make it look as though she was categorically claiming that ALL chemical weapons had been removed. Here's the full comment:

We were able to find a solution that didn’t necessitate the use of force that actually removed the chemical weapons that were known from Syria, in a way that the use of force would never have accomplished. Our aim in contemplating the use of force following the use of chemical weapons in August of 2013 was not to intervene in the civil war, not to become involved in the combat between Assad and the opposition, but to deal with the threat of chemical weapons by virtue of the diplomacy that we did with Russia and with the Security Council. We were able to get the Syrian government to voluntarily and verifiably give up its chemical weapons stockpile.

Since Fox News is a trash propaganda site, they knew they had to remove everything but the very last sentence in order to make it look like she was making a false and impossible to verify claim.

And you fell for it, because you're a consumer of trashy propaganda news vendors. That, and you just wanted an excuse to hurl a stream of misogynistic insults at her on every single page of this thread.

Sure she can be exonerated. "Those that we knew of"... what else do you want? No ones going to bring charges on her anyway so you're dreamin.

That's not what they sold to the public.

You deliberately used a news source to misrepresent the truth. Before calling Rice a liar, first remove the beam out of your own eye.
