Trump launches military strike against Syria

I hope they didn't kill any Russians.

The Russians certainly knew something was up. There are tell tale indicators satellites and surveillance systems can alert you to. We could not give the Russians a heads up, because they are also embedded with Syrian anti-aircraft batteries.
So yes, some collateral Russian troops are casualties.

Russia backs Syrian government who killed civilians with Sarin gas. The UN ignored it.

That would be a real war.

Nah Russians didn't blink when Turkey attacked their plane they won't do anything if the US hit their troops. Russia are there to get in the way, so I feel the do it's colleral damage.

For cripe sakes the targets were air field strips and their means in aircraft that dropped the damn saran gas on his own people.

That should have happened years ago. How much longer are we as a country going to sit by and watch people killed and run out by the millions seeking safety? As far as I am concerned, this move was long overdue.

'The United States launched a military strike on Syrian government targets in retaliation for their chemical weapon attack on civilians earlier in the week, CNN is told.

On President Donald Trump's orders, US warships launched 50 Tomahawk cruise missiles.'

Thoughts?
My thoughts:

1] This seems to be a reasonable and proportional response.

2] This is very fortuitous for Trump in light of his current political difficulties and negative news cycles, especially considering it en proxy goes up against Putin.

3] After Trump's ****-talking about the U.N. and NATO, I'm interesting in seeing what their response and the rest of the World's will be.

4] Even more interesting will be the Kremlin's response!

If my name was Kim Jong something or other I'd be thinking really hard about my next moves.

I was just thinking the same thing.

They were probably Russian cruise missiles.

This is probably another "proxy war" set up to enrich the military industrial complexes in both Russia and the US.
Wargames with real consequences.

President Trump, do not attack Syria. There is no upside and a tremendous downside. Save your powder for another (and more important) day!

It really is very reasonable considering that this has gone on for years now. The fact Trump is the president shouldn't deflect from this.

I'm with Tim Kaine. We need Senate authorization of force. Something that Obama asked for and didn't get. they went on recess just as congress will tomorrow.

Again, to our very foolish leader, do not attack syria - if you do many very bad things will happen & from that fight the u.s. Gets nothing!
Maybe, maybe not. I think the response was reasonably proportional.

Now where it may go sideways is in the Putin response.

But you are right in that we don't want a boots-on-the-ground war, that's for sure!

As of right now this appears to be a proportional strike. As long as this isn't the start of a bigger campaign then I would say Trump picked the least bad option available to him.

Can you people please communicate what it is you want Trump to do?

c'mon man you people were out braying Trump was Putin's stooge because he didn't want war with Syria, and Hillary was brave becasue she was going to NFZ the Russians.

so, 70 to 100 Syrians were killed and many Americans are full of bombast & revenge for this

what I am wondering is:

when GW Bush was allowing the Saudis to strike US on 9/11 & kill ~3K, where was all the bombast & revenge toward the Saudis by the GOP & the folks that wanna bomb the brown people?

or was that our job????????????

folks just wanna have their cake & eat it 2? .............. no, not gonna .................

But wait, I thought Donald Trump was Putin's stooge! Russia installed Trump to be their Patsy! Why would there be Putin response? I thought Putin gave the orders!

My thoughts are horrible dissapointment in trump, continuing a pointless war and trying to get rid of a disctator who atleast maintains order and protects minorities only to allow even worse islamic extremists to run the country.

It seems trump may not be bought or paid for like previous administrations, but when money fails he is easily fooled into doing their bidding.

I am sure Trump got permission(or maybe just instructions) from daddy Putin before launching the strike.

CNN reports Trump in his brief announcement claims Putin was *not* advised. Which sounds a little hard to believe considering Russian personnel might be on the base. But who knows?

Earlier I read that Trump asked the counsel of Gen. Mattis on how to respond to Syria.

Guess Mad Dog gave him some good advise.

Good. Should probably drop a few on Assad's house too.

So maybe you can explain why trump attacking Assad is good while conservatives and republicans said that if Clinton had attacked Syria that would have been bad?

Trump/Bannon really need a war to galvanize the redneck base and get their minds off of Trump & friends selling out the nation to the Russians. In addition Trump is sending a clear message to Assad and the middle eastern Muslim world.

Trump logic: "Stop your silly ass attempts at killing your own civilians, women and children. We will kill your civilians, women and children and we will do it much better than you can. Watch. We're sending 50 cruise missiles to Syria to teach y'all a lesson. We are going to kill a lot more innocents than you could ever kill in one day and if y'all don't stop killing your own innocents then we will kill more of your innocents than you do."

Here we go. North Korea is next. America has a world class bully in the White House.

If my name was Kim Jong something or other I'd be thinking really hard about my next moves.

Really? When has he shown any indication he considers anything other than himself before he acts?
