Re: Trump: ‘We must fight’ hard-line conservative Freedom Caucus in 2018 midterm elec
In local coverage in Virginia but not national coverage, it appears that Trump spent time on his Virginia golf course with none other than Paul Ryan and Mick Mulvaney talking about healthcare.
Now Mick Mulvaney was part of the Freedom Caucus prior to becoming Trump's Budget Director.
Of course we all know how Trump's twitter feed lashed out at the Freedom Caucus on Twitter over Ryan having to pull his bill from a vote.
Rep. Gohmert another member of the Freedom Caucus has gone on the record saying that tweet was the actions of Reince Preibus.
Reince Preibus and Paul Ryan are very tight from way back.
Paul Ryan kept his bill under lock and key and did not allow it to be seen by anyone. Maybe you recall Sen. Rand Paul looking for it and dragging a copier machine with him trying to get a copy of the thing in front of the news cameras.
Ryan did not allow amendments to his bill nor did he seek out consensus with all the party's factions prior to bringing the damn thing to the floor.
He presented a bill that had three buckets. He wanted the House to pass so much now and do two more buckets worth down the road. Well that ain't good enough because there are folks in at least 6 states that do not have any providers for Obamacare and yesterday we find out one of the last remaining in several states is pulling out.
Ryan focused on procedure and not policy.
So that brings me to this weekend.
Trump asked Rand Paul who happens to have a great bill to repeal and put into action replacement of Obamacare.
Accompanying them was Mick Mulvaney Budget Director and former Freedom Caucus member in the House.

What this is signaling to me is Trump gave Preibus/Ryan a chance. They didn't deliver. Besides the bill as was had no chance of passing in the Senate.
Today on CNN Rep. Jordan another member of the Freedom Caucus and a Rep. from my home state of Ohio, a real straight shooter. was on with Jake Tapper. I know for a fact he personally put a bill forth prior to the election in the House to repeal Obamacare that breezed through and is still good for at least another year. And ironically his bill actually coincides much of what Rand Paul has put forward in the Senate.
With all this going on, it gives me hope that Trump is truly seeking a solution.
