Senate Intel chair: Trump-Russia probe 'one of the biggest investigations the Hill has seen'

Senate Intel chair: Trump-Russia probe 'one of the biggest investigations the Hill has seen'
The Senate Intelligence Committee chairman's said the committee is "within weeks" of finishing the review of thousands of documents in its investigation of potential connections between Russian officials and President Donald Trump's campaign.

In a Wednesday briefing updating progress of the probe, Sen. Richard Burr (R-N.C.) said seven full-time staffers are working on the investigation and the committee has asked 20 people to be investigated.

"This is one of the biggest investigations the Hill has seen in my tenure here," said Burr, who has served in Congress since 1994.

Asked by a reporter if any of the evidence shows "direct links" to the president, Burr said "our challenge is to answer that question for the American people."
Clearly the Senate is taking the lead on this.

Clearly they're expecting Nixon and Benghazi to be bumped off the list.

Re: Senate Intel chair: Trump-Russia probe 'one of the biggest investigations the Hil

Chris Coons said there's no evidence of anything.

Is he on the Committee??

What a remarkably different bipartisan tone projected by Burr and Warner today regarding the scope and nature of investigating Russian Entanglement by the Senate Intelligence Committee than the public comments this week by Nunes and any of his colleagues on the House Intelligence Committee.

Too many important factions, from those in Congress, in the press, and public opinion, have lost faith in the House Intelligence Committee to proceed with any credibility with Nunes as the Chair.

House republicans really haven't had any credibility since Gingrich and his idiotic 'Contract w/America'.

The investigation is Yuge I tell you it's a really really big investigation best investigation you've ever seen.

I think this will be Trumps Benghazi. Everyone knows something is fishy and probably a crime was committed but after multiple investigation no smoking gun will be found.

Did you see the press conference with Senators Burr and Warner ?

Did you see the press conference between Senators Burr and Warner ?

Did they reveal any explosive new evidence?

Did they reveal any explosive new evidence?

Were they allowed to? Do you know when the first Senate hearing is? How about the next House hearing ?

Agreed- 1st hearing is Thursday. 5 have received the invites and responded, another 15 more to confirm. I am guessing they mainly request-ask 1st, then subpoena 2nd??

Off topic- But 1 issue that house members have is they are constantly running for election

When there is no evidence of wrong-doing much less of a criminal act the so-called investigation is actually a witch hunt.

But ya, these boys and girls need to move along, they have my 3/15/18 impeachment date to make.

I shake my head still wondering how Dennis Hastert became Speaker.

He did it with the GOP wide stance shuffle.

That's the point of an investigation.

Hold your horses, rabid liberals and rabid conservatives.

I don't think it will end with the reveal, especially if they find nothing. Too many people are invested in believing that there was collusion that a finding of no evidence will just lead to the conclusion that the Senate is in on the cover-up.

If they have not found it by now there is almost certainly nothing to find.

They best get on with making something up.

3/15/18 will be here before you know it.

To your last point, that is why House terms should be 3 years, so they can actually do something during the middle year.

And if you make the POTUS term 6 years, you would have a perfect common denominator of 6 years with the Senate, the House and the POTUS.

We would have less elections, they would hopefully cost less and we might get something done in this Nation when my 69 million boomers are gone and Gen X and the Millenials take over.

Unfortunately in this last election, only 46% of 69 million Millenials voted, compared to 61% of Gen X, 69% of boomers and 72% of great/silent.

Just to give you two examples of election cost, $ 8.2 million was spent on the VA-10th CD, just one of our 435 CDs.
In the PA Senate election, one of 34, $ 44 million was spent. This is what Citizens United 1.0 and 2.0 gave us after McCain/Finegold fell through .

Of course. But it will help the Senate committee immensely if they don't engage in the circus acts of the House committee.

All they have to get to is something that the American people will buy, it does not take much to run an impeachment, but ya anyone who shows the slightest resistance of willingness to run over Trump is suspect.

The Senate does not function much better than the House anymore.

The Senate investigation just started. The House investigation is now in the swamp .

I have a theory that Nunes sabotaged his own investigation so that he and his committee wouldn't have to take part in it anymore. He's a Trump booster. I can't explain his bizarre behavior any other way.

Already it is.
