Government Accountability Office to Examine Cost, Security of Trump Florida Trips

So that makes it okay? Half a billion dollars is "small fry"? That's multiple programs cut for him to instead consume for just his family, outrageous.

Even though i liked this, i don't like the use of Melania. She is married to President Trump, a fate i wouldn't wish on my worst enemy, she doesn't deserve to be used as political ammunition on top of that.

I don't like it either.
But it should also be noted in the GAO report, that this is another unusual and costly situation.
As well as a travelling Self-Promoting President, he and the First Lady have to be covered by an additional set of SS agents (in costly NYC) because they are living separately for an extended period. The only instance I can remember.

I said it once. So now we will have to put disclaimers for those that want to run for the Position of the President? The leader of the Free world gets protection up to X point, once the money runs out you are on your own.

So now future presidents are limited to, what business dealings you have, how many family members you can have Your place of residence is limited. And you are not allowed to take legitimate breaks and spend it how you want, On your time off.

Yes Cost is critical..... cost is important, there is a grey line of excess. I will agree with you on that one. But this is the POTUS, Did it matter if it was, Trump, Bama, Bush, Clinton etc etc. No it doesnt matter. This is the "Perks" and the need for security of the JOB, SURE this is a lessons learned for future Presidents as something we may have to evaluate. Trump is a little unique, in comparison to lets say Bama that had 2 homes. Trump has been around the world and has properties world wide. So just because he now needs to stay put? People are just want to find reasons.

Sure if he is excessive or abusing his power, If its work related...and while yes its golf. He is spending legitimate time with Foreign nationals. The Philippines President didnt even want Bama off the plane...

The CEO of Walmart makes $20 million a year... Is that excess it sure is, But he runs a multi billion dollar company and employees thousand upon thousands of workers. Benefits and wages are paid to these people.... without the CEO running the company the success of Walmart might not be there and thousands upon thousands would lose their JOB, Is $20million worth it....oh hhmmm now it seams like it.....

POTUS gets $400,000 in Salary a year.... "Pocket Change" to Trump..... and you want to question Security? Really? SECURITY?.......

Today, 14th Trump appearance on one of his own golf properties.
This coming week he will 'kidnap' another Foreign leader, (China) who doesn't even play Golf, and hold him at Mar-a-Lago (6th-MaL, 15 overall).
No less, there is currently a crackdown on government officials playing Golf in China. It is seen as corrupt/a sport of the privileged.

Meanwhile, Trump, and and his daughter and son-in-law, maintain ownership of their respective private businesses. Raking it in. Nepotism and profiteering from here to eternity.
No divestment.

There are no Visitor logs at any of his properties and we have no clue who he is meeting with.

It's been good seeing the fiscal conservatives attack Trump for wasting tax payer dollars the same way they went after Obama.

Its good to see liberals attack a President for wasting tax dollars.

Whining and crying about the president's travel is lame and stupid, no matter who is president.

If the president were to go to Camp David or some other place which he didn't own I'd support this sentiment 100%.

When the president forces the government to pay his own properties for his support staff's expenses we have a major problem.

Xi Jinping has gone on a crusade against golf in China. Golf is considered incredibly wasteful and a millionaires game in China. Xi has made it illegal for a member of the Chinese Communist Party to even play golf, has banned golf courses, etc..

Meeting at a golf course is incredibly insulting.

One has to think that the Chinese were somehow Coerced just to give Trump a 4 Day Golf Weekend at Mar-a-Lago.
The Chinese Diplomats, Consulate, Embassy, Trade Mission, etc are all in DC, yet Trump is hijacking him into a Palm Beach Golf Weekend.
WTH!

Trump on pace to surpass 8 years of Obama's travel spending in 1 year

Washington (CNN)Donald Trump's travel to his private club in Florida has cost over an estimated $20 million in his first 80 days as president, putting the president on pace in his first year of office to surpass former President Barack Obama's spending on travel for his entire eight years. The outsized spending on travel stands in stark relief to Trump's calls for belt tightening across the federal government and the fact that he regularly criticized Obama for costing the American taxpayer money every time he took a trip. To date, Trump has spent six weekends -- and a total of 21 days -- at Mar-A-Lago, his private Palm Beach club. The total estimated costs for those trips are around $21.6 million. Trump's frequent weekend travel makes it all but certain the 45th President will surpass Obama's spending in his first term, likely within months.

The spending comes as Trump asks the federal government to slash non-defense spending by $54 billion, including deep cuts to the State Department, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Environmental Protection Agency and the wholesale elimination of other federal programs. The proposed cuts, which are unlikely to be adopted in total, will correspond with $54 billion in increases to defense spending. Trump's frequent trips to Florida will likely end soon. Businesses in Palm Beach County have been told to expect the president to visit through May, but that Trump will likely stop visiting after that because the weather in the area begins to get stiflingly hot. Instead, many expect Trump will then start making frequent trips to his penthouse apartment at Trump Tower in New York City -- where first lady Melania Trump has been living for the first part of 2017 as their son, Baron, finishes school -- and his private Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster Township, New Jersey.
Super high-maintenance president who campaigned on a platform of reducing government spending and promised there would be no reason for him to leave the White House.

Trump will - again - be spending this weekend at his Florida business. Another $3 million in taxpayer dollars down the bunny hole.
